Sidearms & Scatterguns question for anyone who OWNS a Beretta 92

Re: question for anyone who OWNS a Beretta 92

I have fired close to 4 thousand rounds through my personnel with no issues at all. That being said if you fire a high round count they are known for breaking locking blocks and cracking slides. I know this from being in the military and my customers after seeing their weapons from courses. if you only shoot a couple thousand rounds a year a 92 will last you a long time.

Over 10K thru my wife's 1989 Italian made Beretta 92FS. Had the locking block break some years back....an older generation one. Dropped in a new one with no issue. Had the right side safety lever break off....sheet metal construction. I bought a replacement and put it in myself with ease. Other than that it has run fine with mainly my reloads in FMJ and lead round nose. Liked it enough to get another some years back when a deal on a used one popped up. Love 'em both.

Re: question for anyone who OWNS a Beretta 92

I got my Beretta a short time ago for a deal that fell through but I kept it for action style competion such as steel, USPSA, etc. I've shot several thousand rounds in practice and competition with no problems with the gun.

I found it highly reliable. What I really like about it is shooting cast bullets. Just about all I shoot is cast bullets. Normally every 9mm I've used I've had problems developing a cast bullet load, not so with the berettea 92fs, it has no problems with cast bullet.

The only modification I did to mine was put a dab of floresent orange paint where the white dot was on the front sight. It makes it easier for my old eyes to go to the front sight. Its normally bright sun light when we shoot, the orange paint just jumps right out at you.

I am normally a 1911 shooter and got use to the safety (pushing down on the 1911). A lot of people said they have problems with the Beretta because it requires you to push up. I never had that problem. My fingers are long enough to reach the sight without changing my grip.

love mine, got it used and I shoot the crap out of it no problems, not one. if I could only have one pistol it would be the beretta. learned to shoot it while I was in and it just feels like home, everything is just where it should be. My only gripe would be no night sight options with out a major overhaul.

Not true. Tooltech gunsight. Can drill your front blade and replace your rear. I've done it to both of my duty pistols.

Had one for about 3 years put around 4500 rounds through it never had a hiccup. Was really accurate with it as well. Just didn't like the trigger and the gun was huge for a 9mm.

this happened on the first round from the factory

KIDDING, who knows how many thousands of rounds went through that thing. Been shooting them for quite some time and love them, sure youll see some locking block issues as the round count gets really really high but that was a thing more so in the past and not so much anymore.

Re: question for anyone who OWNS a Beretta 92

A little background about the question.
The local gun shop has taken in a stainless
Beretta 92. From the looks of it, I think it
has spent most of its life since 1991 in someones
gunsafe.

And since the shop owner is a terrible person
and lets me put stuff on layaway, I am considering
buying it.

It is a classic case of I want it, but dont really
need it. I will ponder on it a bit more.
Thanks for the responses.

Re: question for anyone who OWNS a Beretta 92

There fun guns. I've had one about 5 years, and shot probably 2,000+ rounds thru it. I have had some hiccups with gun show reload rounds. But with factory ammo it's been 100%

Re: question for anyone who OWNS a Beretta 92

I've owned a Beretta 92FS for over 20 years. I did have one locking block break (older style). But like the other poster, dropped in a new style with the radius relief cuts and its back to running like a champ.

I've put a lot of rounds through the 92FS over the years, but I have been shooting something else (Sig P220) for the last several years. That said, other than the locking block issue, my Beretta has never failed. Not FTE's, not FTF', etc.

If ever presented with the opportunity, I would definitely grab up another 92FS.
