Question for Lilja barrel owners??

Just got my cz vpt in 22lr and I'm loving it! But I love match barrels as well and this rifle doesn't have one. So my question is how much difference will the lilja barrel make running junk ammo? I have all kinds including eley match, I know the eley/lilja combination is incredible. But does anyone have several 5 shot groups comparing the lilja and the factory cz barrel while using any cheaper than eley ammo?

Not enough to make it worth the $400 price tag.
If you get a Lilja, you have to shoot the good stuff.

I agree with justin. Just not worth the money unless your gonna shoot match ammo.

both dj & justin are wright,
i have been there,
my sons cz455 pt factory barrl shot best with center x, midas plus, fed 922A,
over the cheaper stuff, lot better.
but being me i got him a match lilja barrel,
shooting the same above ammo an lot#, did it shoot better
($400.00 plus better) uh no!!! but better yes.
i think you need to try some match ammo in factory barrel 1st,to get a base line
before you step up to a better barrel, then YOU WILL KNOW
not trying to sound like a smarta$$, even match barrels like lot# of ammo. can an will shoot different
from lot to lot are batch to batch,
how ever lilja makes a damm fine barrel for th 455

Lot #'s make a difference. Sometimes you can find bricks of CCI SV
that shoot as well as some of the pricey stuff, but not often.
Found myself with a great brick of SV, so good it's stashed away.
Figured out how good it was when it did this one morning.

48 rounds in one hole at 50 yards
only 2 squibs

Thanks guys and justin, that's exactly what I was looking for! I have been wanting the lilja and I love accuracy, but the bottom line is w 22lr your at the mercy of the ammo, unlike centerfire where you can control all variables!
Thanks again! I'm gonna try to post a picture of my gun and a 6x5 I just shot with my new eley match, I was much happier w the eley but it's not perfect. Btw my barrel only has about 150 rounds on it.

outstanding, shooting justin.
i also have a brick of that stuff it seems.
i use it only in, speed match, or when i shoot joe's 3 gun match,
we only shoot ou to 50yrd or closer.
but we shoot out to 211yd at the TSC match off of some very challeging props
so we test at 211yrd for our gold ammo,
(just remimber to take correct lot# to match)
i have been using a great lot# in my mpr64, an a diff lor# in my sons 455
today benning 1st match of the year
guess which box i grabbed, yep my sons lot
my rifle will not shoot it will at all,
so now all ammo is highly marked for which rifle.
not that it would have helped my any
when apache,armorpl8chikn, brownie, show up with the correct game face.
great match guys i had a ball, even though i bombed .
great shooting to the above top 3 today

That's exactly what I'd expect from a stock 455. Pillar bed and glass bed it and the consistency will improve! Here is a group from a lilja 455 at 50 yards with eley match. Rifle shoots consistently in the .2's when the wind isn't blowing.

My 40X with a Lilja 16 twist tight bore will put 60-70 rounds of Eley Blue or Black inside 3/8 of an inch at 50 meters prone. With Eley Edge it opens up to just over 1/2. I have not tried Red as I am afraid I will like the results.

mine really likes RWS R50,,10 shot groups well under one inch at 100 yards

SK+ and Wolf MT is the cheapest ammo I have shot through mine and it will eat on the X ring of the A23/5 at 50 yards,with the factory barrel somewhere around .600 would be a good 20 shot average..

target from 50 yards and SK+ off a rest and 24X Leupold,,I have some better and some worse than this target but shooting outdoors in the conditions is a good idea of what I expect from the 6$ a box ammo,,and from what I have seen the Lilja barrel shoots to the price of the ammo,the more it costs the better it shoots
