Rifle Scopes Question For Premier Scope Owners

Guys,

I know there is a #$%! storm going on regarding Premier optics on the Hide right now. But I would like to get an honest response from owners regarding their experience with the Premier Heritage.

I recently spoke with an individual that told me to do some additional research on the Premier Heritage, because he and a few of his associates had owned 5-25 Heritage scopes and experienced tracking issues with them.

After doing some searching, I found posts back in 2009 where tracking issues were reported. I did not see any recent reports of tracking problems. Maybe this was something that PH has addressed.

All I want to know in response in this thread, is have any PH owners experienced tracking issues?

Nope. Have not had any issues whatsoever. Have had the same dope for my 175 SMK load through 3 different optics. Nightforce, Vortex Razor and now PH 5-25x56. Dope has been bang on out to 1k and back down again to the tenth of a mil. Don't know if that helps you or not.

I've got a 5-25x where the parallax adjustment won't work if there is any more than about 10 in-lbs tension on the ring screws...

Have you talked with Premier about this. Paul (Plange on this site) is a stand up guy and will get you fixed up right.

I have 3 of their 3-15 scopes right now. One of them is an earlier model but its had all the updates. The other 2 are GenII, they do great. But I did have a problem with one of them back in the winter, the elevation and windage knobs literally stopped clicking and making adjustments. They were frozen solid. Took a few minutes in a warm truck to get them going again.

Other then that they have been a good scope. Clear as a bell and spot on.

Paul,

Per our conversation this week, the only issue I have had is the one that my 5-25X was sent back for. This is one of the earliest 5-25s and has been my goto optic for the last 2 years or so now. It has seen thousands of rounds and have taken a few falls.

She still perform solid throughout the Vegas match, but needed to be sent in for you to inspect.

Other than that, my other 3 5-25s are bomber to this day.

The other 20 to 30 NorCal Premiers have been rock solid on our line as far as I know.

I have helped a few troubleshoot their optics and a lot of the time it was end users not tigtening down the lever enough.

My 5-25 tracks like a champ. I'm keeping a close eye on the for sale section for all the guy that got butt hurt to dump their scopes for my second. There seems to be some hesitation cause I haven't seen one up for sale yet.

I have a 5-25x56 on my 300WM, but only have had enough rounds through it for break-in/sight-in, a little bit of load development, and the occasional poke at a few steel target out to 700-yards. So far it's doing well. Right now the rifle is off getting some smith work and cerakoted, so the scope is just collecting dust and waiting for the return of it's mate.

I have three 3-15x50's (with DT turrets) on my 308's, and all track perfectly. The last few weeks we've been shooting out to 1200-yards (13-mils dialed), and everything has been perfect. Honestly, I don't use the windage adjustments much unless the wind is steady, and most of the time I'm holding for wind.

As far as the parallax issue... yeah I've heard it on the hide many times about over-torque on the rings causing parallax issues, even spoke with Paul about it. On one of my 3-15's I had some binding in the parallax whether the scope was in rings or not, and since then it hasn't been an issue since sent in for repair. I torque my rings to 22-inch pounds, and use both the Near Alpha mounts, which I know have a perfect fit, and don't cause any tube distortion, and Leupold Mk-4 rings. From my experience, all PR scopes have a heavy tension feel to the parallax adjustment, and I think cold temps exacerbate the problem. Every time I adjust the parallax on a scope for the first time that day shooting, it's always stiff, and I have to crank on it, and adjust it back and forth until it has more free travel.

I have the 3-15 DT and haven't had any problems with it. It tracks really well and is an easy scope to use. Sometimes I've noticed a bit of initial stiffness in the parallax knob on really cold days.

Gen 2 version of 5-25

No problems at all. I have used it in all weather conditions, literally dragged it (low crawled) into hides with it and banged it on all kinds of stuff.

I have checked my 5-25 twice, 10 mils is 10 mils up, 5 mils is 5 mils Left and Right.

I have a 5-25x and have had no issues whatsoever. I too will be looking for PH scopes to be dumped in the For Sale section, as I could use another.

My 2 PH, 5-25s, had to both go in back in 09 for tracking issues. then they went back AGAIN. on one, the power adjustment stuck on 9ish and was frozen (90F outside) and on the other one, the parallax knob did nothing.... these scopes never got abused. PH refunded my full purchase price and kept the scopes. sounds like the issues have been resolved, however, I will still buy German scopes if the funds are ever available again.

This has nothing to do with the ATI/LO pissing match, just experience.

I have had a 3x15 PH for 2.5 y, used hard, no issues whatsoever. I have a 5x25, used 6m, including very wet conditions at TPRC this year, no issues. Tracking has been flawless.

I had the clickers replaced before I even moutned the scope. After 250 rounds, I started having issues with a zero that would wander about 1/4 MOA. I sent it back in, they said there was an issue with the spring. They updated the clamp levers and polished it up and I haven't had an issue since. It has probably seen another 1,000 rounds, though, not a lot in the big scheme of things.

I was contemplating getting a Hensoldt when I was having the issues, but I like the 5-25X magnification rating as well as the MTC knobs and Gen 2 XR reticle. If I have any further issues, I will probably sell and go with something different.

Did the water help increase magnification any?

I have 2 - 3-15's and 4 - 5-25's. No tracking issues at all.

I use these scopes frequently with no issues. The minor things I wanted adjusted on a couple of used scopes, Paul took care of me ASAP.

I bought a used, early model 5-25. It had the updated clickers, when I bought it.

I had a random wandering zero issue. Paul at Premier had it fixed (replaced spring and updated the internals) and returned to me in a about a week, with no charge for the repairs.

It appears to hold zero and track just fine now with only about 100 rounds tested.

Paul was very helpful and I really have no complaints. The glass is wonderful, and I really like the features.

What I have learned is that mirage and parallax are a bitch at 25x, and I usually dial down to about 18x when shooting for groups and at long ranges. Anything over 20x is really only for spotting, IMO.
