Ok this is a stupid question but my boots have been annoying me lately. They have the "false tongue" in them, the little strip of leather that is serrated at one end and that goes under the laces.

Lately it has been slipping downwards towards the toe of the boot about a half an inch. Not much but enough to get annoyingly in the way or somehow catch on stuff. Ive tried lacing it up tight but that doesnt seem to help. It has two holes which I have ran the laces through but that doesnt seem to be helping. Anyone have any other tricks to get them to stay in place?

I wish I remembered how but years ago when I was in a Whites boot shop the guy did something like looping the laces around the false tongue or something like that and he said it will hold it perfectly in place. But I dont remember what he did, Im considering punching two more holes in the leather higher up and seeing if that helps.

That's it. Now back to the regularly scheduled chit.

Nah Ill keep them in, they do serve a decent purpose when your working around with logs and sticks. A guy I was working with didnt have his in and he had a nice pointy stick go find the top of his foot. They dont do much but they give you that extra layer of protection. Heck they also make a boot.

Thats the problem.. These boots are practically new.
