I'm practicing finding (and adjusting) my NPA across the course. Standing is a snap- by adjusting either front front or rear foot placement, I can get it exactly where I want.

The other two positions are a bit of a mystery for me though. By the time I get into a comfortable sitting and prone position, I don't have much sense for how to move what to adjust NPA and still be comfortable. To be specific, it's elevation I'm referring to- lateral movement is just as easy as standing- "just shuffle your toes!"

So- you're all slung up, your grip and sight alignment are perfect- and you're several MOA off from black. What do you do?

Re: Question on finding NPA in sitting and prone...

I can only A$$uMe that you are doing the cross legged squat prior to planting. 60 seconds is a long time for 10 rounds, not too terribly long to hold an uncomfortable position.

For elevation it's a matter of pushing one foot in or out to raise or lower the knee that the elbow is locked onto. Actually for a couple of MOA just flex your feet / foot to achieve the desired rise/fall. Since your calf (should) rest on top of your feet by adjusting (think push against the gas pedal or what ever its called when you go the other way) the position of one or both feet you will raise or lower your elbows.

Hope that gave you some ideas.

Cheers,

Doc

Re: Question on finding NPA in sitting and prone...

To adjust your NPOA sitting, use your butt as a pivot and move your feet slightly clockwise or counterclockwise. I shoot a cross ankle and for big changes, I will dismount the rifle, put my right hand on the ground and lift my butt slightly to scooch my position in the direction I need it to go.

For prone, the pivot is the left elbow. Wiggle your hips in the opposite direction you want your position to go.

Cool. So I got prone down. I actually saw the other thread on here for prone shooting where I believe Sterling also mentions using your butt, and damn if it doesn't work!

Sitting may take a little more practice though. BTW- I sit cross legged
