I am getting PRK in 2 weeks and for the first time in my adult life I am have unlimated options for sunglasses. I am looking for some that have interchangable lens system so I can have a clear option for night/low light mountian biking protection. What are your favorite colors for lenses and why or better yet what NOT to get and why? Also would you recommend getting polarized? Thanks for any info.

Re: Question on glasses for shooting

I just got the ESS Crossbow from a member here, and I like 'em. They come in 2 and 3 lens kits, and extra frames are $20 more, so you can just have a few different pairs in your bag.

$7 Remington shooting glasses off Amazon aren't half bad either. I keep a few of those too, for friends who come to the range unprepared. Lightweight, functional, inexpensive, and they have a wide variety of colors to choose from.

I have a pair of oakley flak jackets and have two different sets of lenses for them. First off I have the black iridium lenses for really bright conditions, they do a great job of cutting down brightness and glare. Then I also have a set of the persimmon lenses, and they do a great job of enhancing contrast in low light conditions. Personally I always opt for polarized lenses when given the choice.

Re: Question on glasses for shooting

I found using polarized glasses with some of the high end optics can be a problem. The polarization will cause some weird stuff when looking through some of the scopes with coatings and make it hard to see the target.

Re: Question on glasses for shooting

I am very particular when it comes to glasses, specially sun glasses as I fly fish and shoot a lot. Polarized is a must. After going through a verity different types, I have found none better than Smith Optics. They are on the high end but well worth the investment.

Take a look at their Tactical/ Protective line. I have the Lockwood with brown polarized.

If your looking for Inter-Changeable lenses look at their Interlock Spoiler Square or their Interlock Spoiler Fishing, both are under their Performance lines. Both come with 3 types of lenses. 1 primery color (Brown or Black) and two secondary lenses clear and rose, or what they call ignitor, which is great for over cast days. Additional colors like yellow can be purchased separately.

I had a pair of the Interlock Spoiler square but they were just stolen out of my car. The price you pay for living in Chicago.

Oakley M frame sweep, work really well for me, their lens size does interfere with cheek placement when using a scope, different colored lens available, they stay on your head nicley.

Re: Question on glasses for shooting

My shooting glasses are Oakleys with the persimmon lenses. They have worked well.

For everyday use all my sunglasses are polarized. I have 3 different pairs (all Oakleys) and all polarized. However, i do not shoot in polarized lenses.

Re: Question on glasses for shooting

Had nothing but good things from customers who have bought Edge Tactical eyewear from me... and their anti-fog coating is AWESOME! Been wearing a pair of Blade Runners polarized for 6 months and love 'em. Their tigers eye lens are a new found love when shooting. Really make things 'pop' and best part is they are extremely well priced for what you get!
