Yes, I'm new. Yes I've used the search option.

I'm wondering, on the mk IV scopes that are not FFP, what magnification are the TMR/Mil Dot accurate? Also is the extra money for the FFP on these scopes worth it? If yes, then your opinion on why it is.

Thank you

Re: Question on Leupold Mk IV Scopes

The purpose of an FFP scope is so that you can use the reticle for holdovers, holdunders, wind holds, and moving target leads at whatever magnification is optimal at the time you are shooting.

If you are a square-range paper puncher who shoots known-distance targets which don't move with no time constraints, so that you always have time to dial elevation and windage, there is no reason to have an FFP scope.

If you have to shoot multiple-range multiple-target engagements and moving targets under time constraints, a FFP reticle is a significant advantage.

Most Leupold scopes with SFP reticles are accurate at the highest power. Check with Leupold if in doubt.

One thing to keep in mind too is the overall power of the scope. My 3.5-10 is usually kept at 10 when I'm ranging anything so it doesn't really matter if its FFP or not. It would be nice of course but not necessary for what I need.

My thoughts exactly.
