I have a couple of questions on all of the 50% scope certificates in the Optics Buy-Sell-Trade...

Does the 50% Off Certificate mean, 50% off of the direct manufacturers MAP pricing which is sometimes quite a bit higher that some of the "Optics Outlet Stores"

Or is the 50% Off Certificate off of the price of any of the scope dealers prices out there? And then that dealer turns the 50% Off certificate to the manufacturer for re-imbursement?

Thanks

You have to be careful with some of the manufacturers MSRP, some of them are crazy high, especially Leupold. For what I've seen a couple sell for you can get a better deal going through a dealer. It's not unusual for a good deal on a Leupold at a dealer to be 1/2 of MSRP.

For one like an S&B they just have retail price, the price from S&B for the scope is the same as what dealers are supposed to have them listed for. I think NF is the same way but don't quote me on that.

Yup - street prices on Leupold are usually waay lower than MSRP, so low in fact that 50% of MSRP might be higher than street price (+ whatever you spent on the certificate).

Ya, I was kind of wondering about the MSRP with the 50% off figured in...
There have been some pretty good deals lately on optics it seems.

Isn't there somewhat of a "clearance season" around the SHOT show when alot of companies try to move older models to make way for the newer ones replacing them?

Mile High and EuroOptic have Shot Show sample items, as does https://samplelist.com from time-to-time.

They announce at shot, they rarely ever release around then. In between seasons people will swap scopes etc and the used market may pick up some but it’s always in flux.

I received a 50% off MSRP cert from Leupold at a rifle course.
Optic had to be ordered through the Custom Shop.
I figured that this was my opportunity to get the CQBSS with H27-D reticle.
Called to order. None in stock. No idea when they would have one in stock.
OK, how about MK6 1-6 TMR? None in stock. No idea when there would be.
Check back in a few months.
Gave up and bought something else.
