Looking at the AI stocks, and their actions are epoxied into the stock as a part of the bedding process (along with bolted) at least according to the video I watched.

Is this the same way all actions are bedded to these stocks? If so, does this eliminate the need to rebed for accuracy over time, or does the action eventually loosen and have to be rebedded? If it does, what average number of rounds does it take in say a .338 to have to rebed the action?

There are aics stocks which are just the chassis. You can drop a Remington 700 in and just bolt it in. No beading needed and you get the aics mags.

Then there are the AIAe series. They use a round ai action and are just bolted in. They really don't come loose from firing them. For now they are short action only.

Then you got the AW and AX series. They are bolted and the glued. They really don't come loose. I guess you coud use a heat gun to remove them to rebed it. I would not recomend this unless you somehow break the stock and need to replace it. They are available up to 50bmg.

They epoxy their own weapons to their chassis and make the barrels replaceable. It is a good idea for their products but would make things bad for your own. They have a special barrel tool to remove theirs. For my Remington 700 I have never had an issue with my action moving or loosening since the chassis has a V shaped channel to wedge the action down. I love mine...

Great, thanks for all the replies, that fits with what some of the smiths are saying as well. One point the smith made was that epoxying the action in makes is a lot easier to switch out the barrell on the fly on the AI rifles.

The key point for me, is that it really dedicates you to that combo of stock + action, and removes future flexibility for really very little gain.

The AW/AX is a weapon that is made to take to war and back. It is basically bomb proof. You can change out barrels on the fly without or actually being able to take the stock off. You put another aw barrel on and go to town without loss of accuracy. The AI series does not have the epoxied in action and can be removed from the stock if need be. Even though it is not epoxied in, the AI/AE series is still about as bomb proof as you can get. If you get an AICS chassis, you can have it milled to whatever action you want to put in it. I have a surgeon that is in one of my chassis and I can still go to a remington action later on if I so choose. They are of great benefit to me because they come with the detachable mag system already installed. No muss, no fuss. Some people do not like the way they feel when you get behind them but I love mine and would rather have the set up on all my guns. I mostly do except for one of my Gaps and a couple other factory rifles.
