Helping a friend reload some ammo for his savage model#11 bolt action rifle. We figured out his OGIVE with sierra matchking 175grn BTHP bullets = 2.277 ogive. We made a dummy round with this 2.277 ogive and the COAL ended up being 2.851. We actually chambered the dummy round into the savage bolt action rifle and it does chamber just fine.
Now my question is....... if we produce some rounds with these 175smk's @ 2.277 OGIVE just touching the lands,,,,, is a COAL of 2.851 too much??? It just seams like the bullet is really really sticking out wayyyyyyy to far...!!!...!!! Or is this fine to shoot? Anyone have any experience with this?
What do you guys think??
