How much does a walnut stock weight for a standard 22" configuration? Synthetic for a SA?

I KNOW this info has to be out there, but my google-fu is evidently not strong enough.

The Walnut stock weighs 11 onces more than the composite according to Springfield.

My Google Fu is much stronger, you must practice your discipline Grasshopper

Re: Quick M1A stock questions

Just got the McCann Industries carbon stock, 24 oz, I have to wait till I get home now to put the scout rifle in it.

Re: Quick M1A stock questions

After you take the wimpy syn stock and add the needed bracing inside, you will be about the same weight as the Wood stock.
The wood, IMO is better.
Or go Troy, Sage or JAE>

If you can find a USGI Syn stock, then you will avoid the flex.

I have my scout in a troy, its heavy, went with the carbon fiber to reduce the weight.
I have a Garand in wood, its nice but not what I am doing with this M1A build.

I would look for a USGI stock then.

Re: Quick M1A stock questions

I am going with the JAE gen 3. Dont know what the weight is but accuracy doesnt normally come light. Grunning precision also makes a great scope mount that they align to the barrel using the datam point of the blue print of the weapon. If you are scoping your M1A its worth looking at.

So according to that, teh fiberglass stock is actually heavier than going wood. Huh.

It seems like a prudent way to do this may be to just get a wood stocked one, then get a JAE.

Does anyone have anything positive to say about the SA synthetic stocks? Are they as crappy as some synthetic stocks are or are they actually passable?

Re: Quick M1A stock questions

i have 2 wood and one fiber and i prefer the fiber for anything but showing. it feels lighter and is less dimensionally. think they have to make the wood oversize for more strength. plus i flektard the synthetic with krylon without tears, something i hate to do to nice walnut. as far as reinforcing the fiber? doesnt need it. mine will do 1-1.5 moa in the standard synthetic with correct ammunition.

So after it's done, the stock is flektarded?
