I am new here and had a quick question! Ok so I have a Stevens 200 with the 4.4 screw spacing center-fed. I have found a Choate Tactical stock for sale which includes the Savage factory DBM with it. The screw spacing is the same so would this stock fit and the magazine still function properly??? Thank you!

Re: Quick Savage question!

Be careful. I have a Savage (different than yours) and looked for a stock for a long time. The stock you speak of may work, but be absolutely sure. I have been close many times with a stock for my Savage only to find out for one reason or another it wouldn't work. You can get a Manners and send the rifle to them and they will do a custom inlet--but that might be more than you are wanting to spend. Unfortunately Savage's aren't like the 700 when it comes to the aftermarket.

Re: Quick Savage question!

The stock will definitely work, but you should look at some of the better options as well, such as H-S or Stockade gun stocks, they both make better stocks and the price is right.

Re: Quick Savage question!

I would love a Manners or Mcmillan but sadly funds will not allow either at the moment. I have looked at the stockade stocks but not exactly crazy about the look of their Prairie Dog Special/Tactical model. I like this stock because it resembles an A5. But it sounds like many here do not, can you please explain why? Thank you very much!

Re: Quick Savage question!

I've never read anything bad about any of Kevin Rayhill's stocks, especially the tactical model. Most people who I talk to that has bought his stocks love them, that's what drew me into buying one of his stocks as well. His stocks are well built, and probably the best bang for your buck stock, you should really give it some thought.

Re: Quick Savage question!

I wasn't saying anything bad about the Stockade stocks, I was just sayying I'm not crazy about the look of the butt-hook...I like the A5 or T4 style much more. I know I'm picky lol!

Re: Quick Savage question!

Oh, i wasn't responding to your comment about the looks, that's all preference, I was just under the impression that you heard something bad about them when you said "it sounds like many here do not", not trying to sound like I was swiping at your personal preference lol.

Re: Quick Savage question!

Yes, right now its at 4 months, but anyone who owns one will tell you that its well worth the wait (I ordered a stock in a configuration he has never done before, so my wait is about 6-10 months, but I am a very patient man).

Re: Quick Savage question!

Ok well I'm still not 100% sure of which stock I am going to go with. If I may ask what is the main reason you prefer the stockade over the choate? Is it because the stockade is made to order and not "off the shelf"? Thank you for all your help by the way!
