I've seen the rear focus on other scopes. I've never touched it because the other scopes had Adjustable Objectives.

Does this SS 1-4 Rear Focus have anything to do with Parallax?

Couldn't find anything about parallax of these scope. I just assumed it was set to 100yds. Is that correct?

Ropes,

The rear focus you "don't want to touch" is called a diopter adjustment. It's there to focus to scope to your eyes, so yes, you should touch it.

The thing that you like to dink with, the "Adjustable objective", is only for eliminating Parallax, and not for focusing the scope to your eyes.

So no, in this case the rear focus has nothing at all to do with parallax. The SS 1-4 is a fixed Parallax scope. I'm not sure what it's set at, but SWFA will be glad to tell you.

Re: Quick SWFA SS 1-4 Rear Focus / Parallax Question

Thanks,
So I need to adjust the rear diopter adjustments so the reticle is clear. Simple enough.
I have 20/20 vision with contacts in my eyes so the factory setting is usually right for me.

I'll call SWFA and get a parallax setting.

They should have called the "rear focus" a diopter adjustment for the uneducated like me, and they should post the parallax setting on there website. But who am I to tell anyone how to run their business? Keep up the good work SWFA

Thanks for your help.
I love this scope by the way.

On a low powered scope like a 1-4x, parallax error will never be an issue. Parallax error starts to show it self at about 10x. They do not list it because it is not an issue.

Good to know.

I've only been trying it indoors at like 10 yards, and I can see it has about a 1 inch error at 4x with parallax when I move my eye around.

I saw 0 error at 1x due to parallax.
