i want to get my first can planning putting it on a pistol and leaving it on it. What semi auto center fire pistol package results in the quietest set up.
what caliber, pistol, suppressor is the best to get?

I’m curious about this too. I’ve tried an osprey on an HK USP tactical and it was still kinda loud. Not sure how well the pistol cans work.

HK USP45 Tactical with any good can sounds great. Silencerco Octane 45, Osprey, Dead Air Ghost, Rubbed obsidian, etc. Sigs also make great suppressor hosts. Glocks seem louder to me.

There is no best but a full size 9mm or .45 will work. Get a full size 45 can and wrench her on.

A 1911 or hammer fired gun will probably be the quietest option as the delay in lock up from the hammer spring. (I might be making that up lol).

The quietest option I have heard is my P09 with an Octane 45 attached. I shot it back to back to an Osprey 9mm on an M&P9 and it “seemed” quieter. Honestly they are all quiet.

Sub sonic 9 with an osprey 9 on a glock while utilizing the " assassin thumb" technique! Lol

In all honesty they are all about the same the biggest difference is in the ammo. If you go with a 45 you won't have to search for subsonic ammo... but in my opinion if you are looking to start from scratch, that is buy a can and a gun for that can and only run that can/gun setup I would look into the maxim 9. I have one and love it. The benefits it offers over a traditional suppressed pistol are great and at the price point, if you planned on buying a host and a can, you can't go wrong.

The Maxim 9 is awesome as well but I go for the 45 Can on many different pistols route. Also having a can you can put on any PCC that you might get.

Actually my pistol can spends 90% of its time on my SBR Scorpion.

Question, I in the same boat and don't have any handgun suppressors.

I have a handful of TBac's for my 17hmr, 220 swift 260 and 338 rifles. All are markedly quieter, but even with an ultra on a little .17, there is a sonic crack. I've also shot .300 blkout subs - quiet.

Would the 45acp, normally travelling subsonic be quieter than a 9mm that has a muzzle velocity right at the speed of sound?
