R700 5R ammo

Re: R700 5R ammo

Ok, i've used every ammo listed here in this thread. all of them shot great. but, the southwest is the best there is and the price cannot be beat. the southwest shoots like handloads, not like factory, and its cheaper in price than most factory ammo.

The southwest stuff is the best around. any of the loads you posted will be awesome through your 5R.

Re: R700 5R ammo

Have you considered loading your own? It takes a bit of time and up front investment, but then you'll get the ammo that your gun really likes at a fraction of the cost.

If I was going to buy, I would go with southwest or Black Hills

Re: R700 5R ammo

Factory wise, I have only ran Black Hills match 175Gr. through mine. Other wise I hand load the equivalent round at home. I did the quick beer math not to long ago and figured Im getting match rounds for approx. 43 cents a piece

Re: R700 5R ammo

what is HSM? I know federal gold medal match and BHM, also I heard 175 grain is the way to go.

Re: R700 5R ammo

thanks I plan on reloading, I have 120 rounds of 150 gr so once those are shot I will have some remington brass. and I plan on picking up sone dies, I have a lee turret and a progressive 1000. I would like to stock up on some ammo before I start reloading I ordered 60 rounds from freedom munitions and I plan on ordering some from southwest.
