I'm looking to get some clarification from some gunsmiths on the possible conversion of a Remington 700 ADL to BDL or possibly CDL. I'm looking to buy a .270 ADL along with my sister to give to my brother-in-law as a birthday present before hunting season starts. It will be his first rifle to own and the budget isn't endless on this gift so the ADL is the choice of the rifle being purchased and I'll be throwing on an old Redfield 3x9 scope I haven't used in years so it's ready to go for him. Is there anything different between the ADL and the more expensive BDL/CDL rifles other than the bottom metal/floorplate, trigger, and stock?
If in the future my brother-in-law decides to upgrade the rifle would doing the ADL to BDL conversion from a place such as Brownells and finding someones used BDL stock essentially provide him with a BDL rifle or is there more involved with the bedding, lugs, or anything along those lines? I'm trying to look ahead and gather up information on the a conversion such as a Timney or similar trigger and possibly a stock in the event that during our hunting trip this year he finds things he'd like to adjust here and there.
Thanks
