I have decided to just skip the upgrade chain on stock and go straight to a chassis system for a 700 sps tac that I picked up recently.

Im looking for thoughts on the 3 listed, on who has had them and their thoughts of them with pros and con of each

McRee G5 tmag

AICS 1.5

KRG X-ray

Know I know the x-ray is new and not many have them yet.. but looking to compare those 3 to keep it in the rough $700 range

My vote is for the aics 1.5, I have 2 now. I find them to be a nice stable platform with plenty of add on accessories available. Even though it is heavier I provides a nice balance to a heavier barrel. If you mess up the skins in a comp you can easily replace them for little money. Just picked up a tab biathalon sling and its the cats meow. My buddy has the mcrees stock and its nice I don't think its that much lighter but I don't know the specs.

XLR element. Well within the price range and 1+lighter than the Mcrees...

I have read a bit about the element, and one thing Im concerned with is heat transfer or general heat build up of the fore arm. I live in the and it gets dang warm here. I believe the whiskey 3 is the same thing and more than i want to spend at the moment...

XLR has no v-block
KRG uses v block

Which is better?

Give Kyle a call at XLR. Great guy to talk about the technology they engineer into the bedding surfaces and it's advantages.

As far as heat transfer goes, I haven't noticed anything alarming or different than my mcrees.

AICS is the old War Horse Tried and True. It's heavy but solid and you can change out the "skins" after you mess up the original one and it'll look good as new. If you want the latest and best looking the KRG gets my vote too. It'll look great until you scratch all up and dings everywhere though. AICS is the best chasis for heavy duty use if that how you run your rifles.

Didn't ask about them, but you'd be doing yourself a huge disservice to not consider the Rock Solid Chassis.

My detailed assesment of them can be found in this thread:
http://www.snipershide.com/shooting...ion-rifles/126392-rock-solid-rifle-stock.html

Rocks are really nice. Before buying I would suggest you read the threads on here 'discussing' the companies responsiveness. I've got two buddies who shoot them and they are great setups to say the least.

I ordered a Mcrees; got it within two weeks. Ordered the XLR last month and it arrives as promised a week later. Cannot say enough postive things about both companies. I am really enjoying the XLR out of the two and will be selling the Mcrees next week.

Have all three listed and two XLR's. I have a review on the X-Ray in this forum and I cover why the X-Ray is my favorite. It has the best ergonomics and is the lightest of the three. Had it on the range today and shoot's lights out and, like I said it is juts my favorite chassis system. A VERY close second is the XLR chassis. Love it so much I have two. It is comfortable, tough and has more areas to attach doodads then an erector set. The AICS is nest on the list. It is a heavy chassis and I use it on my heavy rifle. It is a great system but not as comfortable to shoot as the X-Ray or XLR. Rounding out the pack is the McRees, and again, nothing bad to say about it. It is a great piece of kit, but personally I prefer the feel of the others. As far as price, the AICS is most expensive then the XLR and McRees about the same price and the X-Ray. Next is turn around time between order and having it in your hands. AICS is fastest as most of the time they ship same day. McRees are quick and I had mine in 10 days and the XLR's are about 4-6 weeks. The X-Ray is not out yet (got mine early at SHOT) but when it is I am sure the turn around will be fairly quick. Last customer service, a three way tie with KRG, XLR and McRees with AICS falling behind. I can call Kyle about my XLR and he calls back in 5 min, same with Justin with KRG and McRees is noted for there CS as well. Who do you call for AICS? The vendors do what they can, but they are vendors.

So there is the run down, and again favorites are subjective. The X-Ray is a narrow edge of the X-Ray and that is tenths of a % over the AICS and the McRees. In honesty I don't think you can go wrong with any of the above. I posted a personal favorite because it fits my wants/needs and is more comfortable for my frame, also I shoot without my thumb wrapped around the grip and the X-Ray provides the best thumb shelf.

I'm interested in hearing what you settled on? Hope it all worked out!

Im still deciding and awaiting the bonus check from work.. bonus= toys for me

Im looking at the XLR or X-RAY

Im not concerned about weight as I wont be hauling it in the field, it will be a range only rifle and mostly shot from the bench then a little from the prone.
The heat it will see here in SC may be a concern for the metal of the XLR but from what I have read I leaning towards it being ok.

It will be a month or so before I do anything with it as I plan to get a good solid baseline of accuracy of it so I can gauge the upgrade.

I had an AICS AX and recently got a KRG WT-3. I do not miss anything about the AI chassis, it was just too heavy and not as comfortable as the KRG offering.
It was cheaper though, and that is the only benefit I can think of.
