I have 3 words to end your raccoon problem: Jack Russell Terrier

Mine cornered one under my deck. Coon was trapped and decided to fight, bad decision on his part. A few nights later my JRT took on a family of 5 or so. That didn't go as well and he got a little scratched up but drove em all into the cornfield. After that I was through with the half measures and 2 nights later when he alerted me they were back I stacked all 5 bodies with my suppressed AR. I let him out when they were dying so he could get his revenge.

my Belgian malinois has dispatched a few and it is awe inspiring how fast a good dog can lay a coon to rest, BUT my dog now has ring worms that are in his connective tissue. I'll post the name so you can look it up for yourself. Coons are a nasty animal.

Try staking it down or even throwing an old blanket over it. We did that especially if we had the chance a skunk would wander into the trap; learned the hard way that’s not a good day at all. They won’t spray with a blanket over it.
I have shot them over hog bait sites with a suppressed 22. A lot of times if they are spooked like that they’ll run up the nearest tree to them. They’ll do the same thing when hogs come to the bait site and the coons are already there. Up the nearest tree they go.
I have only caught 2 skunks over the years. One was not bad. I waited with a tarp until the bastard was calm and facing away from me hoping he wouldn't see me, then slipped up from the right side, didn't want a direct blast if things went bad, as quietly as possible in case he sprayed and put the tarp over the trap. No problem. Loaded trap and Stinky in the bucket of the tractor and took him about a mile away, tied on a piece of cord to open the cage trap door and when he came out I shot the bastard and went home.
#2 was a whole different story. I did it the same way as I did the other, with success, and approached the trap with Stinky inside, laying there chilled out.
Tarp in hand, held out in front of me I slipped up there and just as I was ready to put the tarp over the trap, the tail came up and the spray went everywhere, me included.
In for a dime, in for a dollar, Stinky got loaded in the tractor bucket, rode for a mile and was shot deader than hell right there.
Trap got left there to air out next to Stinky's carcass.
I slept in the machinery shed on feed sacks for a week and used the outside shower about 157 times with peroxide and Dawn dish soap over that week.
Had a bonfire with the feed sacks and my coveralls and billcap and all bedding used during that time. New coveralls at that. Damn, it pissed me off.
The moral of the story is, use great caution when around skunks. I have been skunked about 5 or 6 times in 72 years and gotten over it fairly easy before.
This motherfucker was an exception. Took a week and the loss in a fire as to ANYTHING that was down range or touched by that spray blast.
To those of you that use Havaheart traps, read this again.

Fuck skunks, when I was in my teens I took a point blank to the face.

Once you’ve been skunked, you never wanna be again. I must be the rare one, because I’ve been 3x. Twice involving the havahart traps and once pure stupidity thanks to my dad.

Speaking or Rats, got a couple neighbors one off to the side, and one behind me . They both got and raising Chickens over this Covid fiasco year .
Now got Rats running around and they run the tops of cedar fences . Chickens and Rats seem to be, you got one, you get the other.
I have killed ass load of Coons here over the years. 22 of them one year . I will state for fact a Rat is twice as smart as a Raccoon and twice as hard to kill them .
They run at night . There FAST .
They got a nose for any human scent you contaminate a trap with .

Skunks are bad toxic smell and my body gets hit harder than most by close encounters with them and shooting them . I just gave up with the Skunks around here . There are to many and ( me and Skunks ) just came to a mutual agreement . Now I got 3 babies that I hand feed and a few adults that will also come up to me at night, and No One Sprays and I dont Shoot them . Skunks, They actually pretty smart and try to get along, they Not like those fucking asshole Racoon.

In my AO there is a strong hardfast declaration of WAR on skunks and always will be. Probably why I don't have many around, maybe 1 or 2 shots a year if that.

As to HavaHeart traps, I have no heart for skunks and Zero Fucks to give, shoot them all from a safe distance.
I would NEVER let a skunk close enough to me to feed the Stinky from my hand, large or small and the little ones are kind of cute, especially when I just shot them in the head and they are doing flip flops on the ground.
In my area skunks are probably the worst critter around for having rabies.

I shoot skunks behind the head to severe the spine. If they are looking at me, below the jaw( always aiming at the base of skull). Head shots were 50/50 as mentioned ealier with spraying. I may be lucky but I haven't had one spray since I started using this technique. They need to be able to lift their tail to spray. I'll keep using it until it doesn't work.

We used to put Cat food inside those Spring Loaded Cages to catch them and then dispatch them.
For some reason they always loved Catfood.... maybe put some out and wait over it.....
We have had the same problem with coons eating sweet corn. I love night hunting with my thermal but a Conibear trap set with a 5gal bucket on its side cleans them up fast. We use marshmallows in the buckets. Works good on ground hogs also.

Tomatoe juice works better than anything to wash the smell off, still may take a few applications.
Some folks have said that soaking rags in peppermint oil and leaving them around the property will deter raccoons since they apparently hate the smell. Probably couldn't hurt to give it a try.
We have the same issues with coons. And in the barn. What they don’t tear up they shit on.
I take a live trap and put a live chicken or tuna in it. Around that CLOSED trap I put 5 leg hold traps. Works every damn time. Multiple catches. Just don’t make the wire so long that an animal can get caught in two of the legholds at the same time.

hello your pest problem could be the solution to another post where some one needs new shoes . I have never tried coon skin shoes but the fur is nice and warm you could help a brother out while taking care of your issue of a pesky critter send him 3 dead coons in a bag to learn how to make his own foot wear . lol
I have read that you shoot skunks through the lungs first. They can't "squeeze" to spray, then shoot them in the head.
I haven't tried it but if I catch that SOB that sprayed my GSD 2 weeks ago in the backyard, I will. Skunk was through the back yard this morning, I could smell him when I went out before sunup.
Damn dog still has a skunk smell.

I shoot skunks behind the head to severe the spine. If they are looking at me, below the jaw( always aiming at the base of skull). Head shots were 50/50 as mentioned ealier with spraying. I may be lucky but I haven't had one spray since I started using this technique. They need to be able to lift their tail to spray. I'll keep using it until it doesn't work.
I normally only see them when trying to kill hogs and don't shoot them. The hogs do more damage on my place I just give them a wide berth at night.
I did have to "relocate" a family of 5 at the other house (somewhat city subdivision) Stepped into a back flower bed that something had dug up. Couldn't figure out why, wasn't the dogs. The ground moved under my foot and a dirty yellowish tail popped out. Next thing I see was was a big skunk come out of a hole, followed by 4 babies. Damn. Wife was cutting grass got her shut down. The mom never got excited or lifted her tail. She tried wrangling the babies around the fence line. She finally got frustrated and picked one up and left. The other babies huddled up together. They were about the size to fit in your hand with eyes open. I put them in a box until we finished cutting when moved them out to the front where mom had left the 4th. She came back that night and took them away. Of course it was Sunday and no Animal Control or Game Warden would answer the phone.

You probably will help some kind of repeller. They have tasted your corn, it will not be easy to get rid of them.
Possums are the primary vector for EPM which is horrible for equines! I've seen one equine die from EPM even after the treatment, it was a shitty way to go for any animal. Possums get removed from my property one way or another. For tick management I have ducks, chickens and guinea keets. I have also pulled a possum out of my chicken coop after it took a hen.
Yep, even the horses that do survive EPM are basically "dumbies" from there on out.
Pigs carry diseases that also make the doe's abort their fetuses. And during the spring during fawning they will comb back and forth in the woods etc looking for newborn fawns to kill and eat.

YES ... BUT .. that linage of prehistoric equine/horse went extinct with Ice Age . Whereas the N. American Possum is the HardaAss Motherfucker who overcame and is livin the good life. He don't need to to be no EuroTrash transplant.

If I had known that possums kill horses I would have quit killing possums years ago.
I set a trap pole once with about 5 leg holds but a little too close together. The racoon wound up with all four in a separate leg hold. Sucked for him.
I had some problems with trap smart/educated coyotes. I set a group with some snares by the hole in my fence in Kansas and they stepped everywhere besides the trap and were able to move the snare. I know the snares worked because I caught two of the neighbors cats (released them both, no injuries).
Kansas doesn't like 330's above ground, they are only allowed for water sets up there so I only used them for beaver sets.
Dog proof traps and little marshmallows for bait. Put marshmallow under the trigger and a couple on top and you'll pop em. Marshmallows also reduce catching non-target species. Also the traps don't get nasty after a rain like they do with dog/cat food.
I was originally going for this big girl and got her in one of my 330 water sets. That is the tailgate of my Ram 2500, she weighed 68 pounds if I remember correctly and had destroyed a LOT of trees.
I hear you on that. I have never tried marshmallows but am going to in my live traps since my chickens now like playing where I ran a set. I have a racoon taking some of my chickens along with some fox's (I took care of this one while he had just grabbed a rooster but there are more).

The other thing I forgot to mention is the marshmallow/marshmallows under the trigger hold themselves there if you get the right size/quantity. So even if the trap is knocked over and kicked around there will always be bait under the trigger until they set it off. But they are fluffy enough they can't be grabbed without setting the trap off.
Marshmallows work good for keeping skunks out for the two years I did a lot of trapping, don't recall if I had possum catches on marshmallows but I'm sure there was one. Be curious how it goes for you and deersniper if yall try it.
And that is a giant beaver. Well done. I've never trapped around chickens bit that seems like a challenge for sure
