If it's any consolation the thing feels like a sherman tank. I felt like I could casey jones a concrete pillar with it for half an hour and it'd remain untarnished.

Why not get an XLR Chassis? It will be cheaper than the Remy, it is lighter, has everything the Remy does, and you can have one right now. Just a thought.

While I'm sure the XLR chassis is a awesome and no disrespect to the maker of the chassis I do not like it what so ever. If I don't use the racs chassis I will use a Mcree.
Right now I'm still debating between a remmy build or a AI AE. The only thing positive about a AI AE is the action, the chassis sucks.

I would like to know it they have made it more “robust”. At the 2010 SHOT show when they introduced it for the first time, it was almost falling apart (none of the adjustments would hold) after 3 days on the floor.

I do fully realize that it would have been adjusted more times in those three days than an average chassis would be adjusted in 2 lifetimes.

Aside from the visual aspects, I really like the way the butstock was designed. AR ergonomics. Easy to adjust with the thumb wheels, folds to the right for a more compact setup, locking in the bolt, and it does not feel like your banging metal together when you are cycling the bolt.

I think this is more gimmicky than anything else. It hasn't been an issue until now. If you think you need it...

I honestly don't know what you mean here.

Again, if it comes in at $1000 it should be worth having over some of the other chassis systems. If pricier, you are in the neighborhood of factory sniper rifles that are full systems and not cobbled together.

Folding to the right to cover the bolt has it's advantages. I put my TRG folder in a compact case and it would be nice if it was a little slimmer so it would be easier to transport. And just this week I have to ship my TRG off and the box I had would fit with the gun folded, but not with the bolt on in the action. Instead now the bolt has to be pulled and hopefully doesn't get lost.

You ever see how much shops are charging for the TRG dogleg folder rear section? It's well more then most of the chassis systems out there and I would dare say my TRG isn't "cobbled" together.

I meant cobbled as in slapping a Remy barreled action straight from the factory into the MSR. I, like you, own the TRG. I also no longer have any Remys in the stable. I, personally, don't see the extra 1/2"-3/4" sticking out at the bolt handle to be an issue. I was just pointing out the fact that most of the chassis systems I listed above have all the same features of the MSR chassis, save the thumb wheel adjustments and fold direction, and come in at the same cost or less along with instant availability.

Like I said, I don't have to make the choice with the TRG. It's purpose built, and I think the folder is silly expensive. KRG makes a much better option for a lot less. This was a great debate of the merits and it just enables people to make an educated decision based on their needs while detailing viable alternatives. I do appreciate your input.

How about a trued Remington with a Bartlein 11.25 5r cut rifled bbl, Huber trigger, and AAC break for a Ti can?

IMO squared stocks sucks. I shoot with a sling often.

Folding left would have advantages in that the stock will secure and protect the bolt from unintended damages. The term “jumpable” I believe would be relevant. Again this platform was designed for a RFP and not for a square range.

Stocks are going to be a personal preference thing. I just don't see how the KRG stock is better then the new folder from Sako, other then being cheaper. I have shot all the versions of the Sakos stocks. From fixed, to the but spike and the dog leg folder and I can tell you having the dogleg makes it way easier to get back on target then a version with a but spike. And there is no sharp ridge on top to put your face down on like the fixed and but spike version.

With a RACS, it's just going to be another chassis systems along with many others that are already on the market. We know it's not going to be cheap. Just by looking at it, there is a lot of machine time in the all the parts that make up the RACS. A lot more machine time then most of the other chassis on the market. Hopefully Remington won't price themselves out of the market.

It looks like a good system, can't really say for sure as all I've seen are pics.

The advantage for the stock folding over the bolt for me is the ease of carrying it(when folded). With this design you could carry it with a biathlon type sling or slung across the back without the stock digging into you all day.

Something that may be a disadvantage is if you have an aftermarket bolt knob on your rifle; I don't know that it would clear the cutout in the stock.

Why buy a Replica, there was the real deal on the PX Guns for sale here for a while.....

I could be wrong but I think he won it at a sniper comp and it come with the fancy optics also.

The Remington chassis folds to the left, opposite the bolt and opposite of what their MSR does. It is close to, but not exactly like the MSR stock.</span>

Not true.

The Remington chassis folds to the left, opposite the bolt and opposite of what their MSR does. It is close to, but not exactly like the MSR stock. </div></div>

i think why people are going to make replica's is because of the cost.... the gentleman that put his up in the for sale section i believe was asking 10 grand for it, i don't know about you but i don't have 10 grand just lying around.

The one I was playing with folded to the left, so I assumed that they had gone that way with production. They must have heard us bitching about the left fold.

I am glad they figured out a way to make it work with the factory handle. I think folding to the same side as the bolt is the only way to go on a folder.

I'm not questioning your conclusion in any way, but I am curious what is the reason that this bothered you/why is folding to the same side as the bolt the only way to go on a folder?

I ask specifically because I'm considering buying a folder that folds to the opposite side of the bolt.

Brother, my conclusion is just my opinion and you know how common those are. You and I may like different brands of trucks and different types of ladies but that doesn't make either of us wrong.... really.

My opinion is that when the rifle is thrown over your back or gear, having at least one clean side to face against you would be far preferrable. Usually, it's choosing what you want to be jabbed with, the folded but stock with all its protrusions or the bolt handle.

Maximum width of the folded package is about an inch less when folding to the bolt side also.

Folding the butt over the bolt handle gets rid of that nuisance and helps protect the action port and bolt handle at the same time.

We have a chassis that we prototyped about 5 years ago and that was one of my main goals. So for me it's a big deal. May not even be a itty bitty deal for others.

Hell, I was already shown to be out of date on one issue of this thread already. I would have just remained ignorant of the changes a little longer had Bacarrat not posted the info to me.

I had AICS 2.0 and could not agree w/Terry more. I don't have it anymore, but the only way to sling it closed was w/the boltside digging into your back. It was not that comfortable. The AICS 2.0 was tacticool...but the folding aspect only came in handy when I was cleaning my rifle.

That said, I like the more traditional stocks.

We were both right Terry!

Now the issue I see is what if people have aftermarket bolt knobs? Looking at the design of the stock, most bolt handles will hit. I guess that is where the gunsmiths will earn their money to design and install a bolt that will work with the chassis and clear the scope too.

I was talking to Ryan (I think that was his name, he was one of the lead designers of the RACS/ MSR) the other week at the AAC shoot about the ability to fit with round aftermarket actions. Basically he told me that shouldn't be a problem since the top rail of the chassis comes off so anyone could machine a rail for it.

All of these stocks seem to miss the one important thing.

All of these knobs and adjustments are going to be used once. You'll set it up for you, and then be done with it.

Thats the reason I'm leaning for the eberlestock chassis. I'll adjust the cheek, and the LOP once, maybe twice, and then leave it be.

I'd rather have my adjustments fairly permanent, vs always adjustable like these. The knobs and gizmos just add additional weight that will never see the useage you're designed for.

Adhusting stocks is like fire-and-forget. Do it once, and be done.

There may be folks out there going back and forth between shooting armored and non, but yeah generally I would totally agree here locking adjustments would seem like an obvious feature.

like the gentleman in the Eberlestock chassis video "I only have one face...." and the guy in the infomercial "set it, and forget it..." i could see needing an adjustable length of pull, as one size does not fit all, but i would think the comb would be adjusted once then left as is. unless your shooting in a gas mask.

I only posted one image and I cannot see how you made the conjecture of a LH and RH bolt handle access from it.
Here is another photo of the stock from the left side. As you can see, it is definitely a dedicated RH stock.

I wasn't refering to the entire stock, just the rear part behind hinge.

I have seen a few pictures and videos of the XM2010 stock before I saw your first picture. There is a hole in, rear part of, the folding stock in both your pictures. That hole appears to have the same shape on both sides:

That hole just happens to fit the bolt handle when the stock is folded to the right side. (Take a look at the video from SHOT Show @ 0:31). It looks like the rear part of the stock was designed to be folded to the same side as the bolt handle and to work with both right hand and left hand actions (regardless of which side the prototype folded to).

I think it's the best looking folding stock for the Remington 700 yet. I think I would buy one if I had a Remington 700 (and they were available in Europe).

I wanted to follow up and ask if anyone had heard about the LW-RACS for the Remington 700 or M40 Chassis. I have only so far seen duplicates of the same info from this site.

There was also a rumor they might release it 3rd quarter of 2012, but no info firming that up or even if it will be civilian or only military release.

I sent an e-mail to Remington requesting any info, but no feedback. The Chassis does look amazing though.

Folding left would only be good if you were shooting a left handed rifle. Majority are right so you need a right swinging hinge to cover the bolt.....
