Just picked up a 700 AAC-SD. I'm new to precision rifle stuff.

As I'm in a pinch to get prepared for hunting season (got in on a rare tag draw) so I'm probably going to go with the falcon 4-14x44 scope:

I'm sure it's a little too heavy to be a perfect hunting scope but this rifle is a precision/hunting project build.

I'm shopping for a FFP votex but the one I was looking for got snatched up quick on here! No surprises there!

As for the rail? I hear nightforce is one of the lowest and has a great fit for the 700 short action. I hope it won't need any teeth cut off the rail to clear the objective bell of the falcon:

or the warne base:

Lastly, I'm pulling my hair out over the rings.

These warne rings look nice:

And also the LaRue LT719:

I'm trying to figure out if the LaRue rings will work with the Falcon optic. I'd prefer the LaRue rings as they are likely to be slightly higher quality and sit lower. I just hope they wouldn't be too low. I've looked at a few charts and I'm still unsure. I can't seem to find the Seekins calculator either.

Thanks for the help guys.

Re: Rail Mount + Quick Detach rings + Scope scenario.

Can't recommend anything other than this set up for your app.:

20 MOA Cant Rail Part #:30606

and STANDARD height (.823") Rings

http://www.brownells.com/.aspx/pid=...BADGER ORDNANCE/Product/MAXIMIZED-SCOPE-RINGS

My scope has a 50mm objective and fits fine over the barrel (Remmy 700 20" 308) with lens covers on so your 44 falcon should have more than enough clearance.

Wouldn't go w/QD rings unless neccessary. Larue are top quality but have heard of them fail. The badgers will never break, and they come off just as fast using a box end wrench. I've swithced scopes rifle to rifle many times with them.

Matching rings & Bases make sense. Just don't buy anything cheap.

Re: Rail Mount + Quick Detach rings + Scope scenario.

I would avoid the Nightforce base simply because they not are made to picatinny or stanag standards. (crosslots are to narrow, out of tolerance)
When it comes to rings if on a budget i would go for seekings that really is good And fair in weight.
I would NOT go for QD, can't see any reason for it.

Re: Rail Mount + Quick Detach rings + Scope scenario.

Thanks for the feedback guys.

I've never heard anything bad about the nightforce rail mount.

Anyone else had issues with it here? I tried a search and did not find any complaints.

I wonder if they have since fixed the issue. I guess warne mounts are great too and are pretty low based on the feedback here:

I'm almost sick of trying to find a low ring/rail combo that won't be too low/high just based on research.
