I'm mounting the T5Xi Steiner Scope from Cattleman99 (thanks CM!) onto the Picatinny rail. I have some conflicting information on how much torque to apply to the mounting bolts on the scope mount connecting to the Pic rail.
85 lb-in seems reasonable but 55-60 seems pretty light, and 100 seems scary tight.

    Any feedback appreciated.

Depends on the mount and design

Most are just fine at 65 in lbs for the mounts or rings running the large cross bolt. Some recommend 100 in lbs but my wrench goes to 65 and I’ve yet to have an issue

My Spuhr mounts are at 55 in lbs
My Burris PEPR are all at 65 in lbs
My ZRO Delta was at 65 in lbs

My rings NF, Badger, Burris are all 65 in lbs on the crossbolt

    What mount is it?

    Thanks hafejd30. Trijicon high mount.

    Of course it’s one I haven’t used 😁

I’d check for recommendations from the factory. Like I said tho 65 in lbs hasn’t been an issue on anything I’ve run. But that depends on the mount design and bolts.

I wouldn’t think 65 in lbs would be to loose on any mount. It be stripping it before you get there that could be an issue

The only thing I found on the Trijicon site about these specific rings is they are export controlled.
I looked on the paper that came with the rings and other than giving place of manufacture and the export warning, they included a Trijicon sticker...

I cranked them to 80lb-in, and they seem pretty solid, so with all of your (appreciated) feedack, I think I'm good.
    Thank you each.
Well, that should fucking do it. I agree that Trijicon is woefully inadequate by not providing base crossbolt and ring clamp torque specs on their site.

Pretty much all steel rings with the 1/2" nut on the crossbolt of the rail mount that I have seen state 65 lbs. I don't believe I that I personally have seen any higher.

ARC rings are 50-55 but they are not 1/2" nuts and are kind of an exception.

And, not to insult you...but did you make sure to push them forward in the rail slot before tightening?

You may also find this useful in the future:

If you do reach out to Trijicon and get a spec, perhaps send it to Fix-it-Sticks to include in their list.

    Cheers
