Has anyone used Ramshot Tac Powder to load 175 gr. Sierra Match Kings in Lake City LR cases and if so what were your results and opinions?

I used TAC at first, 44 gr with a 175, results were decent but not good enough for F class matches, as soon as varget was available again last year i bought enough to not worry about using TAC again, on the other hand it is a good powder for everything but match loads to me anyway. It is also a very versatile powder to use for 223, 22-250, 7.5 swiss etc.

Just back from the store with a pound of Tac, guess I'll turn around and return it and get some Varget. I knew I should have stuck with stuff that I'm familiar with!

TAC isn't bad at all, just temp sensitive and a little fast. If you load 223 it's awesome for that.
I wouldn't load more than 42-42.5 of it behind a 175 in 308. 44? Holy ****.

Thanks BCP I've got some 223 to load, 77 gr. Sierra Match King in new Lake City brass. I'll use it in that if the store won't take it back.

I use it behind 168gr in my 308, 42.5gr. a little of the lands and at 100 it will stack`em in there when I do my part. My Savage 12 will not shoot Varget (if I spelled it right) but loves Ramshot TAC powder.
I just loaded some in a 22-250 55gr with TAC powder and waiting for time off to shot it and see whats happens.

I shoot 43.5 grs under a 175 smk with fed brass and primer and have no pressure issues at all.It's a quarter minute rd in my gun and thats a thrown charge not weighed.It throws great which is why a tried it plus or minus a tenth pretty consistent.

I shoot the shit out of that stuff in my AR.
It loads GREAT out of a progressive press... I can load a LOT of ammo and, FAST in the xl650. VERY good powder for that application.
I tend to load my 308 stuff in a more deliberate way, however... my 300wm even more than that.
I'm not dogging TAC... I've just never done it in 308, even though I know it will do it.. it's a little too fast burning for me trying to make the 1000yd line. ( I'm sure it will do it, however )
I shoot the shit out of that stuff in my AR.

Start Load: 38.0 grains Ramshot "TAC"
Max. Load: 42.3 grains Ramshot "TAC"
C.O.A.L. 2.800"
A load of 40.3 grains should give you about 2,600 fps.
As always......Start with the "start" load and work up.

I use TAC for my non-precision .308 rounds. For 175gr, I use 42.5gr, seated to 2.80 in LC brass. I run these thru a progressive press (Hornady LnL). TAC meters very well in the powder drop.
