I've narrowed it down to these two. I know there aren't many of the 1600's out there so there won't be many opinions, but I'd like to hear what you have to say anyway.

I like the built in barometer and angle indicator of the Leica, and I like to tripod mount and optics of the Swaro.

BTW, I know this has been covered already somewhere, but my search Fu sucks today.

Re: Range finders - Swaro VS Leica 1600

I would like to add something to this post as I tried to buy a Leica 1600 at Optics Planet a couple days ago, only to find everyone seems to be out of stock right now. After looking a little further, I found a few places with the Leica 1200 still in stock. So my question is whether the 1600 is really worth the extra ~$250? Currently, I'm working with only 5.56, although that may change in the near future (I have a very severe case of BRD). If I was to go up to 7.62, would the 1200 still do the job? Realistically, I think 800-100 m would be the absolute upper limit. I don't mind spending the extra $$$ for the 1600, but only if it will actually go along with some added benefit over the 1200. I'm can't say at this point whether I would use the ballistics features of the 1600 or not. Opinions?

Crap, I thought I had it narrowed to two. I hadn't even heard of the Bushnells. Very interesting. I'm don't typically use binoculars, but maybe I would if I had some. I'm a bit worried about the bulk and weight.

It really depends what you're looking for. As far as an LRF goes, the Swarovski is great value for the price. The glass is nicer than the Fusion IMO.

But, the Fusion gives you the binocular feature as well, which the Swaro doesn't.

We'll have a reveiw of the Zeiss LRF in the near future as well.

Thanks,

The Bushnell Fusion's Laser seems to work just as far as those other guys in a lower cost, bino package. Glass won't be up to snuff vs the Leicas or Swaro but the overwhelming feedback is that the glass is more than good enough. A really nice piece of kit.

If a LRF monocular is a must, I like the Zeiss. Haven't seen the new Leica but glad to see Leica step up to the plate.

I ended up going with the Swarovski. The tripod mount and a killer price from Jay and Chris at Sport Optics sealed the deal, not to mention the fact that I need one right the heck now. I looked at the fusion, but since I don't hunt I couldn't see an immediate need for binoculars.
