Ok,
I have a new range queen, 1911. I don't intend on using it for EDC. I need a holster that is comfortable for full days on the range or in the field. Concealment is not my concern. I am thinking about a competition style holster for minimizing finish wear and comfort but I have no idea what type of retention those things have, I don't want the gun drop loose while humping targets out. Also, they look almost too easy to draw from and I don't wanna get spoiled.
Looking for
Comfort
minimizing wear on the gun
enough retention to keep the gun in place, no thumb breaks or locking systems

Any suggestions?

Re: Range Holster

Most holsters are going to mar the finish in one way or another over time. That being said, keeping a gun securely in a holster kinda ups the potentiality finish wear.

As far as a competition style holster, does that mean a dropped and offset or ??

B.A. Custom Kydex is making a really adjustable dropped and offset holster that can be had in many ways from a Tek Lok attachment, to belt loops to a paddle attachment. Their original design used screws for the tension adjustments but future holsters are probably have finger adjustable tension controls so when in doubt crank down on the tension, then loosen back up when you feel more comfortable.

They don't currently have a website set up but can be contacted thru facebook or email at [email protected]

Re: Range Holster

I like the Blade Tech brand of belt holster for general range use. It would be comfortable for all day wear. I use it for IDPA and Single Stack competition too.
