took my new 5R (20"er) out today for the first time. scope was a nikon prostaff set on 7 power that i snagged off my 30-06.
no, this isn't to impress anyone, but it sure as hell impressed me. there are a lot more people that can shoot WAAAY better than me.
it was 55* today, 10-12 mph swirling winds with 24 mph gusts. very annoying. kept blowing my stuff around and off the tables.
the pic below was from a warm barrel after i got it sighted in. the shots were one after another, no cooling in between. the front of the gun was supported with a bi-pod. the rear was supported with bone and muscle. i couldn't find the right combo with a sand bag.
the pic below was as fast as i could pull the trigger. bascially, as soon as i was on paper, BAM!
for me, this is very good (top pic). i am sure i could have gotten better groups if i had a decent rest on the rear, and took my time.
i'm going to put some good bases and rings on (i'll look more in depth when i have the $), and a nikon monarch (i'm 90% sure thats the scope i'm going with).
