Took her out today and despite the steady 20 mph+ crosswinds, (right to left) I am starting to see improvement in my shooting. This is my first bolt gun and my first venture into precision shooting. I shot 30 rounds with it after shooting 80 thru my PTR-91. Took a few rounds to manage the big trigger change. Then this was my first attempt at a 5 round group (100 yds)...

I dont have a gauge but center to center of upper left round to bottom right round is 7/8 in.

Then I went to 200 yds and shot this group...

I blame Lowlight for the flier! The round on the right was the last in the string. If I could have stopped at four it would have been center to center 1.16 in. As it turns out it is 2.0in.

Then I went back to 100 yds and finished off the last eight rounds of a box with this...

The first round of the string was the center bull (Lull in the wind? I don't know). The last 7 measure 7/8 in, with the first round 1.25. Center bull was my POA for all rounds.

Here's the rifle...

It's obvious that the 5R is much better than I am but I'm making progress and that is encouraging.

Comments and critique welcome. I'm thinking I may still have a heavy trigger finger.

The 5R is a great rifle, I am glad you are happy with it. You will have to let it settle in a little bit and as you get more experience on the trigger, circle back again.

It will be great to see how you progress with it.

What scope are you using? It doesn't look familiar to me. Is that the new Super Sniper? Kind of looks like the bird logo on the side. I've got the older one.

One thing that did seem to make a big difference even @ 100 was parallax adjustment in the scope. I had a friend that didn't even know he had a parallax adjustment. His was way off and he was getting really bad groups. He also wasn't getting a consistent cheek weld and shooting position. Just by setting the parallax adjustment correctly his groups went to half the size.

Also, what ammo are you using?

Looks a lot like mine, 5R and SS HD. I've been playing around with different ammo to see what it likes and I seem to be getting groups like yours but I too have only had the gun for a few months and am still learning to shoot it.
