Rangefinder for long range 2000 to 3000 yards?

I'm selling my sig kilo 2000 and just got the 3000bdx binos. With all the research I've done it seems the 3000binos are the next best to the terrapins.

I have the Vortex Fury 5000s and they have been amazing. They can range horses and cows out to 3000 yards no problem. I took them to Vegas in July and was able to range hotels past 5000. The glass is good enough that I can't pick the better between them and a pair of Zeiss Victorys that I have until just before dark.

I only had the Sig Kilo 2000 before this and they work well, but the binos make it a lot easier to hit your target with the laser, and the range on the Vortex is really amazing.

My Leica 2700 does well at those distances. Haven’t maxed this one out yet but the Leica 1600 I replaced ranged close to 2,000 yards. I think the display maxed at 1,999

Really!?!?

my 2700 gets Spotty after 1100-1300 yards, unless you do a very large object or a wall of tree's

I’ve ranged mid 2’s with the 2700. I guess I should ask what we are talking about for Target size. The very large object or trees is what I’m referring to. The 1600 would range my steel plate 11x20 silhouette at almost 1 mile and deer etc about 1200. Tree tops, hillsides, buildings etc obviously were the best.

Now if he’s asking about a deer at 2000-3000 then neither will do that. But a reflective target it will no problem.

I ranged a water tower at over 2600 with the Leica and a sig which was also impressive. Easier to hit smaller targets with the Leica. The sig tended to pick up the background faster and using the scan mode on smaller targets was a must. Sig was a owned by a friend, the kilo 2000?? I think. Both impressive units

I have Leupold as well and that isn’t worth a crap compared to the others for its advertised capabilities

I think the question that hasn’t been ask is what size and type of target are you trying to laze at that distance? I have range finders that will laser a house or trees well past 2000 yard but struggle to lazer a target as close as 1500 yards.

Have had the Terrapin X for about three weeks and would give it a 4/5. It is great for targets out to 3k and can range further if you are looking to just range trees or a house past that. I do find it a little finicky when paired with my Kestrel. Seems to drop and needs to be reconnected often. But the trade off is you can count on the range finding abilities. New to shooting LR, but happy with my choice.

I’ve been thinking real hard about picking one up, it‘ll link to my Garmin 701 also. I hear the app works well and it’s probably the only legit range finder on targets at extended ranges right now. From what I read the leicas keep dropping there connection to. The one thing the Leica has on the Terrapin is it shows your dope and windage in the display so I’ve read, hope terrapin follows suit.

I hunt but i also shoot long range. I range man size gongs or rocks. My sig does pretty good in shadows or overcast days but sunlight it struggles way more. My max at the range is 2000 yards but plan is to move out farther but my rangefinder seems really work good in those conditions i described

Might take a look at those

I am new to LR and the Kestrel seems to work fine for me, but would be nice to have the dope shown in the display. I should be getting my NKL Pure's tomorrow and will try the three out at a PRS shoot this weekend.
