Rifle Scopes Rangefinder

Re: Rangefinder

I purchased a Zeiss LRF last year and have been really happy with it. The glass is superb as expected from Zeiss. I own three NF scopes and the glass is far superior and clearer than what i see thru my NF scope at 8x. I have not ranged a tree at a 1000 meters but i have ranged game at 600+yards without an issue. For $699 it is hard to beat i my opinion.

Re: Rangefinder

+1 for Zeiss. I have one and couldn't be happier. Zeiss and Swarovski have the best commercially available range finders. Those are the two I'd be looking at.

Newcon also makes some that are OK but I certainly wouldn't put them in a class with the above mentioned.

Re: Rangefinder

I agree with the others, I have a Leica 1200yd LRF, and it does have its shortcomings. Wont do a point target beyond about 500. Fog, tree limbs, etc wreak havoc with it.

I was wondering how the Leica performed as I was considering one. I was also considering Bushnell Elite ARC 1500...dont know much about it either though.

Re: Rangefinder

my stock leica review is below, dunno what has changed w the CRF vs the LRF. have hit our 16"steel plate at 1k, cars, houses and stuff at 1200. w the scan i havent seen anything i havent been able to range, anyways i wrote this the week after i bought it, and im still glad i got the leica. it has done everything ive asked of it
=============================
just picked up the leica crf1200..wandered up to the end of my driveway and hit a house at 1203 yd. the thing is small and light, glass is nice.

took it to mifflin, and on a bad weather day w wind, and rain i could hit our 1030yd targets w an airport a few miles away reporting 2 miles vis in rain and fog. as the weather got worse so did the rangefinders performance..when we couldnt even make out the 1k targets any more i couls still range a dead tree at 830yds. as the snow started flyin i could still get out to 700yds, but we couldnt spot trace, or get any certian hits past 500. at this point the snow was flyin and blowin in all directions, and id put the vis at 1/2 mile or so at best. w only 1 good test day on it, id say the crf 1200 can range farther than id want to shoot when the wx and visibilty get bad. btw $540 shipped from cameraland for a factory certified demo

edit: the only things i dont like is there are no lens covers, and no tripod mounting screw. the little case that comes w it is decent. comin up w a tripod mount it on the list of things to do

Re: Rangefinder

Just bought a Bushnell Elite 1500 arc and I love it so far. It works great have ranged to 800 yards and it has been super cloudy here, but haven't tried it past that yet. I cant compare it to anything other than my other Bushnell (not sure model its OLD) and a Leupold rx600 and its far superior to both.

I returned my Leica 1200 for the same reasons.

Re: Rangefinder

My Leica 1200 is good, I do wish it had a tripod mount,
I can range tree/bush's to 1080.....
my 12" x 12" plate to 1000..... sometimes I have to steady it against a truck, tree , etc.... but that's just me holding steady, not the LRF
