I'm out here in Youngstown taking care of my grandma, late grandpa left me some cool guns. Looking for something with at least 100 yards and a place to do some shotgun blasting. Found some good indoor stuff for pistols.

Hey guys, just finished my second rifle "build" (just put the parts together). I'm looking for some ranges in western Ohio or eastern Indiana that are longer than 300 yds. Id like to stretch it out to around the 500y mark. Anyone have any suggestions?

Rayners range just south of Zanesville OH 1100yds. They host monthly PRS matches and a sweet match called the Fall Sniper Classic.

The first prs match is tomorrow Feb 3. Starts at 8, register at 715-730 am.

Thanks for the info guys, I've seen both of the ranges you have listed, those happen to be quite a haul for me. I'm west of Dayton Ohio, right about the Indiana line...... aka the wrong side of the state for long distance shooting.... if you all happen across something closer to Dayton or east of Indy, that would be much appreciated
thanks again,
rem

I'll answer for Indiana...
I've lived in southeast Indiana for a few years now (thankfully work is moving me soon) and there is not much in this state unless you go up north. Luckily, I live on a DNR Fish and Wildlife Area (my wife is the assistant manager) and I just use the DNR range that is 25-200yards. I have looked everywhere here and 200 is about the limit. If you go up around the Fort Wayne Area, Hillside Shooting Sports lists up to 1k but that is too far for me. There is another one a little further south, in Wabash, IN that lists up to 750yards. There are a couple between you and Indy on the line that go up to 300 yards but that looks like it. I haven't been to any of them, as I am not going to drive 2.5 hours to pay to gain 100 yards when I can shoot for free down the road. If you find anything, beyond what I have mentioned, or if you want more info about the ranges I have mentioned, let me know.

Good luck.
Josh

There is a match at Rayners Sunday. Show up by 730, shoot 8-1pm'ish and then home. If you need a scope to use for match, I've got several I'm about to part ways with to clean out my safe.

Hey thanks! for the offer don't think I'm quite ready for competition yet can't take the cold weather for long as I'm not as tough as I once was. However I might go Just to familiarize with the range. I do sincerely appreciate the offer. If you see a black jeep there look at the plates you will know it's me.

It's a cool range and we've had several people come to spectate before shooting. Looking forward to possibly meeting you there.

I’m in Cleveland and would be down to link up for Thunder Valley
Hey Just went to Reynors range this morning Just to check it out they were in the middle of a match I didn't get to talk to subwrx300 nice ranges very rural setting I like. Went last Saturday to thunder valley another very nice range more (traditional) looked like bench and prone. At Reynors they were doing tactical long range. Reynors is I'm guessing about 40 minutes south of thunder valley.
Not yet a member of either I'm more low speed trying to improve long range hunting and shooting to have fun. Still gathering funds for scope. Thunder valley does have a mile range.

damn. You should have asked Carolyn where to find us. We had a good match, barely missing the snow except for the last squad or so. Next match is first Sunday in April, the 7th. Get a scope and bring 80-90 rounds or so for the PRS match. 22lr match after the PRS match starting at 2pmish.

Too bad we couldn't connect but hopefully next time!

By the way that day my wife and I went in different directions I didn't know where she went the next day she asked where went I said I was out to a range south of Zanesville she said Raynors? I said yes I didn't know she's been there we communicate well? She is more a pistol shooter than rifles. Thought you might appreciate that.

They have several pistol matches at Rayners and they have several cool areas for pistol. I'll send my contact details in a PM. Next match is April 7th 8am start, arrive at 715-730 to get registered.

I'm right near southington hunt club if anyone wants to meet up there.I'm new the long range game but not to that range. they recently extended one of their lanes out to 1000 yards for the upcoming PRS match there as well. very nice set up over there. I messaged the match director yesterday and he told me open range days are set to start april 8th.

I’d be game to shoot at an open range day. Let me know.

Another vote here for Rayners Range. If you’re on the fence about the shooting in “competition”, don’t let that get to you. It’s very laid back, and a lot of fun.

I went 3-4 times last year (driving from other side of the state, a whole day affair) and found it easy to fit in.

Sandusky county sportsman club. Gibsonburg OH. We have 50, 100, 300, 500 yard ranges and a cowboy town. Membership is around $120. Dues $80 a year.

Been out for a couple years. I shoot in Mt Sterling. 1,600yd capability but only when crops are down. Beans will be down shortly. Let me know if a small (2 or 3ish) group wanna shoot. I will try to get it together. I have a 24"x24" steel plate (semi) permanently installed

East side of Cleveland here - any ranges within an hour with ability to shoot 300+? I've gone to KC pistol and rifle club but not really interested in paying by the hour.

There are some pretty nice state game land shooting ranges in Ohio and western PA most only go out to a 100yards though. Yearly permits run about $30. Ohio ranges close for the winter but in PA they are open year round. State game lands 203 is near cranberry PA. In Ohio there is one that goes out to 300 somewhere around Coshocton I heard. In Ohio permits can be purchased where you would get a hunting license. In pa you buy them online and print them out and they do check.
