First off a bit of bragging and congratulations to my son Chris for winning his first match with a rifle. This is his first year for shooting a LR rifle after two years of using his LR pistol. GREAT JOB Chris, that 400 is only one target away. Also like to say Great Job to buddies DaleT and DaveC for their first 300 score, 300 don't sound like a hard score to get but you really can't miss many regular size targets to get it. Still a milestone to strive for.
Tom added some new "Black Hole" targets, they suck you in and usually give you nothing in return. Really small, really high value targets hanging beside our normal targets at some distances, You think with a good center hit you'd be able to move right over and get a hit..... don't always work that way.
I fell victim to that along with a few others shooters but there is always next month. If you get the hits the points add up big time fast. If you miss that big <span style="font-weight: bold">ZERO</span> stares at you and looks even bigger on the score sheet.
There were 61 entries but no LR pistol shooters this month which was a first. I think the conditions were deceiving, looked so calm but those slight changing winds with no indication played havoc with a lot of folks.
As always, thanks to Tom, Carolyn and everyone that helped to put on a great match. They have a great facility and the matches are always very challenging for all skill levels. With the new valued targets that makes 645 the max score possible, a 400 hasn't been shot yet so that shows the challenge.
