New to the site and I'm looking for recommendations for mounting my new Vortex Razor on my LAR8. I want to have enough scope adjustment to shoot in the 800- 1000 meter range.

AAD is a very good mount for what you are looking for. I have one for sale with a Razor HD that came off my Gas gun. The combo has been all the way to 1000yds and back during comps.

Like mentioned already you don't have to have a 20moa base for a Razor to reach those ranges. But I would say get a good one if you are gonna buy a one piece unit.

I'm running a Badger Ordinance 22MOA rail on my gas gun, which then allows the use of any ordinary rings of appropriate height for a heavy-barrel bolt gun. This allows me to easily swap scopes. I'm not saying that this is the end-all-be-all setup, but it's one more option to consider...

IMO the primary consideration is proper eye relief. I would look at the AAD one piece mount, Larue SPR and SPR-E, and the ADM Recon and Recon-X mounts. If you normally shoot with a NTCH position you will likely need the SPR-E or Recon-X mount. With the Razor 20MOA can't isn't needed to go to 1000, but I would probably get a design with 20MOA built in anyways. If you want 20MOA then the LT-745 is a good option. Here is a link to the AD Recon 20MOA version. American Defense MFG, LLC | Browse | Scope Mounts | AD-RECON Scope Mount 20 MOA

I haven't used AAD's mount, but it looks really nice for a non-qd design. Aadland Engineering, LLC

I prefer Bobro mounts, but they don't offer a 35mm mount at this time.

I installed a Vortex Razor on my .308 gas gun along with a ADM 20 MOA scope mount. Its really nice. Honestly, there is SOOOO much adjustment in the scopes erector that there is no need for 20 MOA. With my scope zeroed at 100 yards, I still have 26 MILS of UP adjustment. There is one small advantage of the canted scope mount and that is it raises the back of the scope up a little giving slightly more room to get to your charging handle. Anyways, Check out the ADM mounts, they are really nice.

Thanks to one and all for the info. You have answered my question about a 20 MOA base and given me some mounts to consider. I find experience is the best teacher especially if you can learn on someone else's dime.

First day out with my Razor/AADMount combo, liking it a lot so far. Very sturdy, same torx wrench for rings and mount - stows in grip, excellent height (1.45), 20MOA built in, bubble level is not very usable with BUIS installed but oh well - vortex includes the one pictured with the scope anyhow.

P.S. For those wondering why I set up the scope and mount the way I did - By moving the base back and the scope forward in the rings you can get decent eye relief on a .308 AR while preserving the option to move it onto a standard AR. I spent a good deal of time playing with the assembly on my SR-25 and MK12SPR side by side to come up with the perfect arrangement. On the MK12 the combo mounts all the way forward on the receiver.
