Hello all,
First, thank you all for the wealth of information posted here. I have been reading a lot here and on M4Carbine on this topic. I apologize in advance for another this vs that scope post. I believe there is a variable in my situation that might change the default Vortex answer.
I have a Ruger RPR in .308 which right now has a SWFA SS fixed 10x on it. My local range is 300yds and with an hour drive I can shoot 600yds. my local training facility (Sig Academy) goes to 1000yds. I am shooting mostly to get as small of groups as possible. I want more magnification. The vast majority of my shooting will be at 300, but I don't want to limit my longer range options.
I can get the Sig Tango6 5-30 with the Dev-l Mil reticle for $1500, new. Right now Optics Planet has the Vortex Razor gen2 4.5-27 with the ERB-7C reticle for $1795 (with janten 10% coupon) with a $150 gift card after purchase, which would become 34mm rings.
The discount I get on the Sig is nearly 50%. I like the built in eletronic level on the Sig. From what I've read, the newer Sigs track as well as the Vortex, but there is less info out there on the Sigs.
The Vortex would cost me $150 more. Any advise? I don't want to spend $3k on a Nightforce ATACR, IOR or a S&B for a $1200 rifle.
I do spend money on training and try to take 2 classes a year at the academy. I will take their precision rifle series classes starting next year, once I am better with 1st bolt rifle and have better glass.
Thank you!
