trying to load up some 140gr AMAX in my new 260 and my RCBS dies are crushing the polymer tips on the AMAX. luckily i have just been trying the same bullet as I am trying to find where the lands are so I can back of slightly but I never had this problem with my Hornady dies. Is this a common thing that is easy to fix or do I need to spend the money and get those expensive seating dies with the micro adjustment tips?
thanks for the help!

I did not get the one set for crimping, and so easy fix just replace the seating stem? I saw on another forum some guy just drilled into his to allow for the tip but that looked silly to me. the hornady dies i have for my 223 and 308 have a bigger hole so its not even an issue, they seem to seat from the ojive not the tip..

no clue, I am new to reloading.

I was using brand new Lapua brass, should be fine. I even ran it through the sizer afterwards to see if it changed anything.
like I said above tho, I have never had any issues using other dies, so i dont think im all of a sudden fucked up. new dies + new issue = shit dies.

I am going to just buy the redding type S match die set for $150. the micrometer on top looks to be a handy ass tool!

I adjusted the die and now it isnt damaging the tip but it leaves a ring around the tip where it does apply pressure and I had a few round not load perfectly stait so i noticed it as i was trying to lock it into the chamber and see if I was .02 off the lands and it got stuck, pulled it out and only scratched on one side so i know it wasnt strait. what a pain in the ass!

Get a Forster or Redding match grade seater...the type that has the sliding sleeve. Get the VLD tip also. Seat the bullet half way or so and turn the case 180 degrees and seat the rest of the way. Wire brush the inside of the case neck with a bronze bore brush that has some 0000 steel wool wound around it during your case prep. That lessens the drag as you seat the bullet. You can get the concentricity down to .001 or less that way. JMHO
