Re: Re Stainless Media Cleaning Help

Love my stainless media. I have noticed for some reason, some brands of cartriges shine better than others. The great advantace is the inside of the casing and the primer pockets are clean. Thats the most important part for me anyway.

Re: Re Stainless Media Cleaning Help

First I have heard of this. I have been using this method for awhile now and the brass is shinier than when new.

    Are you rinsing them well?

Shiny isn't necessary, but I am curious why it isnt working for you. I find this method easier than any other for cleaning brass with better results to boot.

Re: Re Stainless Media Cleaning Help

If I rub with a cloth I can get them alittle bit more shiny

SS media cleaned the inside and primer pockets (the latter I prevoously cleaned with a primer pocket uniformer)

Previously I cleaned all brass in walnut media with polish and the outside was shiny as hell, pockets dirty, and insides dirty.
Now what I got out of this is cleaner pockets and insides of the cases.
So now to get shiny brass I will have to dump it in my crushed walnut shell media vibrator.

I am the willing victim of ss media mass hysteria... !!!!

Dont know what to tell you. I dont clean anything, throw them in, and a couple hours later they look like the pictures you have seen inside and out.

Try a different detergent. Or maybe they changed the lemishine formula. Who knows?

How much SS media are you using? I use a .40SW case of lemishine, a short squeeze of dishwashing liquid, 5lbs of media, and 100-120 308 cases. Water to within 2-3 in of the top. Tumble 2-3 hours. Super clean and bright.

Well that is weird but I suspect you have something contaminating the SS, perhaps the tub or the SS itself is dirty (mine was) and it took a few times tumbling just the media itself in Dawn to clean it up. Either way, if you really want shine and it doesn't come after a few cycles on the media you could always tumble in walnut with a little carnauba wax but I wouldn't go that far just for the bling factor.
