I have a hunting rifle that I would like re-stock/pillar bed with a different style of stock.

The barrled action is Cera-Koted & I was wondering if I can re-stock/pillar bed without having to re-do the Cera-Kote??

I am just wondering if the re-stocking/pillar bedding process would trash the Cera-Kote??

I've seen devcon scratch a ceracoated finish when the excess was being wipedfrom the sides of the action. I think this was likely due to the steel particles in the mixture. I doubt that marine-tex would do the same thing. Also, I would venture to guess that masking the sides of the action at the show line would mitigate this from happening. Nothing happened to the portion of the action under the show line.

Cover the barrel with electrical tape even masking tape and run a piece of tape lengthwise down the action just below the stock line to help with clean up. No big deal with a little planning.

Thanks darren75b!!

The rifle is fairly new & there's not a scratch in the finish. Really would like to restock/pillar bed without re-doing the Cera-Kote.

We Cerakote, then pillar bed our rifles without any problems. If you are careful, you should be fine.
