Finished building a .223 to train on and also give my son something to grow into. I brought him to shoot it the other day and my rear bag (a schmedium) is just too heavy for him to maneuver the gun well with it being a heavy rifle for PRS.

Any suggestions on a lighter and easier bag to manipulate for a 9 year old?

ELR mini bag from @Precision Underground is my 9y/o favorite bag now.
Prior to that he used the ELR bag.

Pic of then 8y/o using the ELR bag. 1034 was his furthest impact that day with the 6.5

Get him whatever bag you want, or better yet already have, and put a better light weight fill in it.

Edit: Armageddon game changer with the @Precision Underground light(ish) fill- 2lb 10 oz
which is less than half the weight of the standard fill and does seem to lock up solid (not as solid as sand but pretty good) in that its slightly larger than sand but smaller still much smaller than the normal beads.

I am an Edgewood man, edgewood is the nicest rear bag out there. I have a edgewood bags with 3/4" spacing for a specific gun and that one really is an awesome piece of work ......I have 3 protector bags and they are great

What the hell kind of bags are people running nowadays that a large child couldn't handle? Are we stabilizing a rifle, or trying to hold back flood waters from a burst dam? Clearly, I've gotten behind the times.

My 10-year-old uses the same tired TAB Gear bag (size small, normal fill) that I've been running since 2012. It's not suitable for fortifying an artillery emplacement, but otherwise seems suitable for its intended purpose.

Now available in designer colors for the fashion minded, and brown and tan for the tactical minded. Military grade oversized tactical shooting bags.

WARNING. You may need a taller bipod and or fall asleep while shooting. Tactical bean bag is actually not that tactical.
