Rear rabbit ears bag recommendation

The last time I went shooting to a mile, I shot a little with my friends rifle, and I realized how amazingly solid a rear rabbit ear bag is compared to my regular bags. Obviously they are not as versatile or 'tactical' but for long range shooting, you need stability more than versatility.

Can you guys recommend a nice rabbit ears rear bag, that also wont break the bank. A quick search brought up some very expensive options....

The Protektor bags are VERY nice bench bags which can be had in various configurations, including different materials (synthetics/leather/combos), different ear sizes/heights, different weights/sizes, etc. I got mine from Midway more years ago than I can recall. Edgewood bags are about the best out there. They will make you a custom bag. This is very handy as you might want to customize the distance between ears, height of bag, length of bag, and type of ears. I needed to custom order a very low profile bag for shooting prone. Most benchrest bags are just too high.

Thanks for the link. I know where to find them in online stores. I guess I should clarify my question. As you mentioned, there are a ton of variations. I was looking for a recommendation on one that will be more fitting for laying prone outside and accommodating for a big rifle like the savage 110ba 338lm.

As with all things in this area...there are no "one size fits all" options when it comes to fitment of things like rear bag to a particular rifle, position, body habitus, etc., etc. What may be an ideal bad for one shooter may not work worth a damn for another.

Best advice is to get setup on your rifle and measure the approx height from the ground to the bottom of your stock where you'll be placing any rear bag and use that as a rough guesstimate of the bag height you'll need and order accordingly. Similarly, if you know the approx. width of your stock at that point, that should allow you to find a bag that will provide a decent fit to your rifle in terms of the height and spacing of the bag ears. As previously stated, there are a ton of different options/sizes/etc. to best suit your particular needs so do your homework (measure twice...buy once) and buy a bag that fits within the size/options/etc. that you want/need, or, if you have the cash, go with the above suggestion re: a custom bag tailored for you/your rifle/shooting position/etc. There are a whole lot more options for "custom" bags than just Edgewood, including some of the Hide's very own sponsors/members.

As for a Regular Rabbit Ear style bag, go to Walmart. They have Winchester bags that are less than $20. They do the trick
