I have a Tikka T3x chambered in 270wsm, I love the 270Wsm cartridge but the options are just not there. With the Mag Boltface I'm looking at Rechambering options? Since the Tikka is a long Action I was thinking the 7mm Remington Mag bc of high BC bullets selection, decent brass etc. 7mm is readily available at most stores looking for opinions on this round. I handload so that is not a problem. Was thinking of a 26in Remington/Sendaro contour barrel with APA gen 2 break. I'm open to other cartridges as well??

Edit: Nevermind, I'm an idiot.
Edit2: An idiot that can't strike-through text as well, apparently.

You'll have to modify the existing or get a new bolt stop to go from short to long action. Looks like your 270WSM is a .470" bolt face diameter and the 7mmRM is a .540" long action. Bolt faces are crazy expensive on tikkas to get. You could keep your existing bolt face but change the bolt stop and do 270 win, or just change the barrel and do a 308/6.5CM/6CM

I'm skeptical of any "opening up" of the bolt faces, but that's just me.

My advice would be 7 saum or 6.5 saum. The only thing keeping me from getting rid of all my non tikka rifles is their COAL limits. If tikka cane out with a longer action, all my LA rifles would be gone and replaced with tikka's in their calibers. 7 saum and 6.5 saum are absolutely hell on critters of all sizes. I believe 7 saum is my next tikka build.

Likewise, sent my T3 270 WSM to GAP and had a Bartlein #3 chambered in 6.5 SAUM. Turned out great

I know this is old, but is the factory mag long enough to get full performance out of the 6.5SAUM? I’m considering one or a 7 SAUM, but I’ve been hesitant with MAG length.

Also, will a 6.5 reamer fully clean up a 6.5 CM chamber?
