Have a 243 Ackley on a trued R700 action. It has a brand new un-fired Bartlein 24" MTU barrel on it, I would like to rechamber it in somethng with a factory ammo option, is this feasible? I have a 6 creedmoor, so I was thinking 6GT. I know ultimately I just need to check with a gunsmith, but thought I'd check here too. thanks.

I was pondering a similar question. Can a gently used pawn shop .243 be rechambered to 6mmARC that I have dies for? If you have a lathe, it is just setting the barrel back and rechambering with a 6mmARC reamer?
The bolt head dimension is different on the ARC, slightly smaller. The GT is the same as the 243/308/creedmoor family.

Not a lot of heavy bullet precision factory ammo available in 243
Yeah that's the downside to oddball pairings. That's why most 243 target shooters reload. Looks like Copper Creek still loads some including the 115 DTAC. There used to be several but whatever tiny market existed pretty much died because of the Creedmoor. I remember lots of shooters used 87 vmaxes because they were a decent combo of speed and BC that would work in factory 243 barrels.

I have a 6/250 with a 1:10 twist that are loaded with 69 gr Berger VLDs, the 243 Ackley used to have a 12 twist barrel on it, shot 58 gr bullets out of it. Most of my guns were originally built for prairie dogs.

ahh yeah thx - twist rate looks different between the calibers and bullets. Plus to add to that ill twist-effect I would want to run a shorter barrel for weight reduction. I am now leaning to just building a lightweight AR upper.

No.
Much more than a "setback"- it's time for the bandsaw on that one. Plus, new bolt...

6 ARC bolt gun should be built off a Howa mini in 6.5 grendel w/ a barrel swap for the easy button.
