I am looking into buying a varmint barrel for my Stevens in 308. Would this be a small shank? I would like to upgrade the recoil lug while I do the swap so I want to make sure which one I need before hand. Thanks.

I belive its the same as a savage 110 or newer 10.
If I recall correct I used a Remington 700 .250 on my Savage 10 build.
Also consider what you have room for in the stock. .200 is plenty, stock is really plenty. You can always have the stock one surface ground ?

Contact Jim Briggs of NSS on the savageshooters. He has a lot of prefitted savage small (what should be on your Stevens) in stock. You can also pickup a thick machine ground recoil lug from him as well.
Jim Briggs is really good to deal with. The only reason I'll look around savageshooters anymore. I'd avoid dealing with SSS if at all possible.

stockadegunstocks is where I got mine. Yes it should be a small shank barrel. FYI, I'm selling my recoil lug and other savage parts for a 4.40 centerfeed in the options section.
