Recommend a 17/18" SS barrel for AR-15

I'm looking to build an SPR type rifle and I'm hoping to get some recommendations on barrels.

I'd like to shoot in the 300-700 yard range and will only have access to factory 5.56/.223 loads. I don't hand load and don't imagine myself ever hand loading. I don't have a scope at the moment but will also be purchasing something in the 2.5-10 power range.

I'd like something that can shoot close to 0.5 moa at 100 yards if possible (I don't know if this is possible without hand loading).

I've looked at the Noveske barrels and they're nice but I'd prefer rifle gas if possible (Wes of MSTN's type barrels, but I don't think they offer those individual barrels for sale). What else should I look at?

Have you contacted Noveske to see if they would build you a barrel with the rifle length gas?

Is there a reason you don't want mid gas?

Do you have a budget in mindd? Other than Noveske, look at White Oak, Rainier Arms ultra match/match, and Wilson Combat. Shilen makes a drop in AR barrel as well.

You can send a barrel to ADCO to have them change the gas port... Or just shoot it as a mid length.

BCM SAM-R 18" SS barrel. Little bit more expensive than the WOA barrels, but worth every penny.

Seems like I won't notice any difference between the Noveske, WOA, Rainier Ultramatch, etc, as far as accuracy goes?

As far as gas system, its just preference.

I got the mid length cause I wanted it to fit under the handguard. I have not had any issues with function or reliability. I have heard that a rifle length system has a softer recoil impulse but I have not shot one to compare the two.

Fulton has an 18" douglas for 300 that I've been eyeballing.

I have an 18" as well as a 20" from White Oak. The 18" is the DMR profile, the 20" is the Varmint Upper. BOTH are absolute tack drivers.

For the money, White Oak does great barrles... YMMV.
