Mena, AR
I will be acquiring my old Winchester M70 in .270win in a few weeks from my stepdad. It's the basic synthetic stock and sporter barrel model. I want to set it up to be more usable with a supressor. I'm wanting to have the barrel cut down and threaded. I realize that I will have to go down to a certain length to have enough metal for the supressor to seat against. I just want to be able to give someone the barreled action and get it back the same way.

I live in Arkansas, so if anyone knows of someone that does good work here, that would be prefered. I don't mind shipping it out either, I just don't know who is good and who to steer clear of. Also, I'm not wanting to wait a ridiculous amount of time. Thanks in advance

@leftyk82 Funny you should mention them, I was actually looking at their website the other day and know they are gtg. I was just a bit confused on their description. I need to email them and ask if their cut and thread option is priced for just the barrel being sent in. It didn't state anything about sending in a barreled action and being additional costs. This is a good reminder to shoot them an email and find out haha

not sure if he is still around but his website is working. Think his name is John but he may not own it anymore. They should have the capabilities to do why you want, just not sure if they will do it.http://www.xcaliberfirearms.com/?page_id=103

You may want to pick up a pair of calipers and measure the diameter of the barrel.
They are probably going to want at least .700 diameter in order to thread 5/8x24. Check to see the remaining barrel length after having it cut back to that diameter.
Depending on the taper of the barrel, that may be too short for what you want to do, or even too short for legal purposes.

Mena was always small but it seems to be shrinking even more! Hard to find much there. Unless you want the CIA and the Clintons messing around the airport again!!

@fdkay Yea, I have a set I'm going to do just that once I get it from him next week. According to LRI's website if it's the same contour as what they were describing, I can go up to 20" with 1/2x28 or 18" with 5/8x24. I would prefer to keep it 5/8x24, but to get the length I want, I'm not opposed to the 1/2x28...I will just be using a direct thread adapter on my Omega.

@roostercogburn98 Oh dang man, I was thinking of a different company when you mentioned them, now I remember they are in Mena. I'm pretty sure his wife was one of my college professors lol
I believe John Titsworth left the business and don’t remember the other guy who ran it with him. They have been around for a while though. My brother in law knows one of them pretty good if I remember correctly. By the way I am born and raised Mena. Joined the military after graduation and been gone since.

I gotcha. I've only lived in Mena since 2017. My wife and her whole family is from Polk county. Once I exited the military, we moved from Charleston, SC back to her home town and I'm back in school currently. Small world, for all I know you might know some of them lol

Thanks for all of the suggestions, I've got some good options. I talked with rooster offline and there is a good option just a few miles from my house that I wasn't even aware of, so I'm going to start there. Once I can get ahold of the rifle next week, I'll start trying to get this set up.
