Hi there..I just bought a ruger 10/22 so that I can have my wife learn a bit more about guns an shooting. Does anyone know, that what kind of scope will be best ? SFP or FFP, reticle, brand etc? I also plan to upgrade her gun at later stage once she has learnt the basics. So am willing to invest in a good optic now and am flexible with budget. Appreciate your time and attention !

I just bought an athlon btr for my 22 10/22. I just went off of reviews online. It’s FFP and it was between that or the Vortex for me. It comes in on Monday. I had a 3-9 mag adjustment before and I went with higher mag so I could see my holes better out to 100-200 yards. With a 9 mag, I couldn’t even see my holes at 100.
Athlon BTR 6-24x50 gen 2. Get it from Cameralandny. You want the gen2 if want the zero stop feature. But remember I have not used it, it’s just what I came up with after researching scopes under 350 and I paid under 300 for mine.
I put a leupold VX-Freedom Rimfire 3-9x40 on my daughters Tika T1X. Simple, Clear, Quality, & inexpensive piece of glass for her to learn on.
On my Bergara B14 i went with a Vortex Diamondback Tactical 6-24x50. I wanted to be able to dope it down range. Ive been very happy with combo for the price. Its no Vudu / Nightforce combo. But its a blast to shoot.
These are both bolt 22's. My 10/22 has a red dot on it!

I'd probably lean toward Vortex PST Gen 2 3-15x44 FFP or SWFA SS 3-15x42. These are nice general purpose scopes that you can use on a lot of different platforms later.
Given this is a 10/22 and you might do some shooting unsupported and all that, I would not go higher the 3-4x on the low end. I might go smaller, but not bigger.
If you want something simple, SWFA SS Ultralight 2.5-10x32 Rimfire is an excellent scope for a 10/22.

The most important thing is safety (of course) and keeping it fun. That is the key to making people comfortable shooting and interested in coming back.
I have two 10/22s and both wear simple Weaver Japanese made optics. One has their 4x28 Rimfire and the takedown has their 1-3x20 variable.
My family and I love shooting either of them; mostly suppressed and from 50 yards and it. My kids enjoy shooting at clay pigeons on the intermediate burms and for fun we 'lob' them out to 100+ sometimes. After they got good with safety, trigger control and reticle placement, I put them behind CZ 452/455s with more complex Burris optics with mildot holdovers, so they would start spotting misses in the dirt and then hold as needed for for hits. Then the 17HMR barrel shows them the difference velocity / rounds make, as it doesn't drop much at all compared to the 22LR.
So I'm of the mindset that a simple, clear, and easy to use optic is a better choice than uber magnification with exposed turrets and FFP reticles for a novice.

Lastly, if you are shooting <50 yards, you would really benefit from a Rimfire geared optic with parallax set at 50yds or one with adjustable <50. I have a Burris Timberline 4.5-14x32mm and it focuses down to 7 yards. Very helpful to give new shooters an 'in focus' target to shoot at. Lots of the large scopes for centerfire rifles either don't adjust as low (usually 50 min) or have fix parallax at 100-150 yards which isn't a typical range to shoot 22LR with novices.
Most "Rimfire" branded scopes have a set parallax at 40-50 yards which works well for up close.

im looking for one too, but to go on my 77/22 with carbon fiber barrel. its currenlty sitting with a Mueller 6.5-24 AO that is about 17 inches long and the balance is off for that gun. i need something SFP and with parallax down to 25-40 yards.
I have an Athlon Talos BTR 4-14x44 on my 10/22 and I am very happy with it.
Reticle works nicely and I was surpised by the overall build quality for that price range. The magnification ring needs some form of throw lever though since it is very stiff.

This is the best advice for your . You dont want a scope with fixed parallax at 100 or 150yds with a 22lr.
