Friend just called me and asked for a recommendation for a replacement stock for a Remington 700 SA ADL in .223. Also he is looking for a new (better) scope. Recommendations appreciated!

I've looked for HS Precision take offs, but they seem to have all disappeared. Thoughts on B&C #2958 Remington 700 BDL? That was one of the emailed recommendations I've received.

Thanks in advance folks.

What does he use the rifle for? If predators/varmints I really like the 4.5x14 (or whatever's close). Nikon Monarch with BDC is nice as long as he practices and knows drop at range. Plenty of other options with drop/mark reticules. I don't like to click, others do.

+1 on the budget question. Nearly impossible to give an informed opinion or recommendation without knowing what kind of a budget he has. Also it says he is looking for a new scope. What does he currently have?

First things first - It really doesn't matter what the budget is - how is your buddy going to use the rifle? From there recommendations can be made.

I mean really - the guy bought a .223 ADL, I don't think a AX chassis and pr 3-20 are going to do him any good whatsoever, no matter what he's doing, or how much disposable income he has. Nor is a SS 10x and a B&C if he wants to cull hogs in heavy vegetation.

Buy more ammo first, and second, and third. Then he'll answer his own question.

Sorry for the lack of replies, been out of pocket for a couple of weeks. It looks like his primary use is going to be varmints up to small hogs. Mt AI, I'd already pointed him at the Loopy 4x14 with a BDC. I'll pass all y'alls recommendations tomorrow and see what he wants to do. Thanks for the responses!
