So I torn down a couple dozen 7mm08 rounds to include w/ the sale of the rifle(gave buyer brass, dies and bullets as I am getting out of .284) but kept the powder since I can use it in working up some 7.62 loads. When I broke down the rounds, I put the powder in a clean plastic container but hesitated to return it to the original canister. Is it OK to return it to the original container or should I keep this stuff seperate? Thanks, -MaxPower

Re: recycled powder ?

I've had sizing hickups before and reused the powder after pulling and resizing. If you know what the powder is then you should be cool. Shot a match w/ the powder and had no problems.
You know about 3 other smartasses are going to correct you on the .264 /.284 thing.

thanks for catching that, Fixed.

Re: recycled powder ?

I'd do it if I loaded them and knew 100% that it was the powder stated on the load label. I've done it in the past.

For argument's sake, let's say it's Powder 123. I would not take Powder 123 from lot A and dump it into the lot B container, but would have no hesitation dumping it back into the Lot A container.

Re: recycled powder ?

oh no, nothing like that, I have the can it came out of, positively labeled(OCdisorder) and remaining 300+ grains or so. Just wondered since i loaded this batch 10 years ago...but since it is seperate and I have enough to do 50-60 rounds, I'll just use it for some workup loads to determine an accurate charge/velocity w/ H414.
