Suppressors Red Jacket Does it Agian!!

Re: Red Jacket Does it Agian!!

Whenever someone starts the conversation with "hey, your a gun guy! did you see what they did on sons of guns last night!?" You know that you have located one of the enemy. Do not engage in conversation! You will only end up feeling dirty and less intelligent.

Seriously, that show is a trainwreck. The rest of the world thinks this is what most gunowners are like or strive to be like. God help us all.

Re: Red Jacket Does it Agian!!

Rusty, I've been dealing with that scenario ever since "American Chopper" came out. I've been in the motorcycle industry since high school and dread the conversations at Christmas from distant family members who saw a ridiculously impractical chopper being built. After attempting to explain how wedging an air-cooled engine into an already built frame and wrapping it in someone else's paintjob hardly makes a mechanic, you learn to just to nod your head and wait till it's over.

Re: Red Jacket Does it Agian!!

who else watched the show this week? such a huge cluster f. i wonder if that "professional marksman" will see the show and see what a giant turd they gave him.

also, is that "suppressor" they built in any way going to hold up to repeated direct blasts from that stock muzzle brake on the .50? from what they did, it seems to be directly hammering the side of the tube.

Re: Red Jacket Does it Agian!!

Dang, Good advice for sure!

My latest defense is to tell the clown in question that I have sold all of my guns and taken up remote controlled helicopters

Re: Red Jacket Does it Agian!!

Hey, my R/C helicopters are fun! I only watch the show to see how big of a screw up they will produce each week. I always invite people to the range when they start talking about the show like they know everything about guns. Its quite eye opening for some people.

Re: Red Jacket Does it Agian!!

SOmeone here posted that the owner lost his FFL and class 3 so Vince was the one holding it...

I'm thinking they threw him under the bus because he WANTED to leave?

I like how he treats his daugh ter, I'll give him family values #1 but the show is very scripted (and good for business obviously).

They quoted me $1800 for a 9mm suppressor.

Re: Red Jacket Does it Agian!!

I'm not trying to start a pissing match here, but I was surprised to see they used a Safety Harbor Firearms 50. For TV theatrics, I just assumed they would use a Barrett or at the very least fabricate a "game changing, never before seen" upper for an AR15 lower. I think the 20mm Vulcan might have something to say about the largest and loudest shoulder-fired weapon....

Re: Red Jacket Does it Agian!!

ArcticLight the licensing thing you mentioned reminded me of what the daughter said at the beginning of the last show. She her her spiel about we are trained professionals with the proper licenses so don't try this at home BS. I lost a little sweet tea through my nose after laughing when she said they had the proper licenses when we know for a fact they lost their FFL.

I won't buy anything from Red Jacket because their products & services don't interest me.

I won't buy anything from Red Creek Tactical because the owner is a whiny bitch who slanders his competitors on the internet.

The guy makes cool shit, Red Jacket does not. I just don't understand why a business owner would risk his position in a tight market by running his mouth like a child. Lest we forget LaRue Tactical. </div></div>

First, I don’t consider RJF a competitor. I don’t make stupid shit like giant flame throwers.

Second, if a group puts themselves out there in a TV show which represents all of us in the firearms industry and then behaves badly, shouldn’t they be called out on it?

Third, if you act like total assclowns like they do every episode, then are you fair game to be made fun of?

Fourth, if you read the parts of my posts which are serious they are fact based, like the hydraulic buffer being in the revolutionary new piston driven AR they invented when Chris had it on the bench in LV. Then Will claimed it will put them in the upper echelons of defense contractors, really... Last time I checked with PM Soldier weapons there were only three manufacturers rifles left in the M4 replacement competition, and then there is the PIP program. And RJF was never even under consideration by them or any other branch of the military or other government agency, that I can find.

So, when they make seriously false claims on a supposed reality TV show and then offer those guns for sale on their website is that honest? Or, was the product a bit miss-represented?

Is it wrong to point that out? Even if its heavy on the sarcasm?

Fifth, try getting a sense of humor, you’ll be happier.

</div></div>

I was talking to Emorse..... who sounds like he is defending RJ

You hit the nail on the head! That's what I get ALL the time. Especially since we have "Red" in our company name. I get Hey, are you affiliated the that Red Jackoff company? What do you think of the two full auto Glock's they mounted on that kids big wheel?

Then I have to spent the next 20 minutes explaining the definition of what an assclown is; and that the most unusual thing this week we were asked to do was, no ,not to build a giant flame thrower, but to Cerakote some BADASS AR selector lever kits in bright purple (apparently Barney the Dinosaur bought himself and AR)

You know, the net result of that show will inevitably be that the kind of dumb asses who shouldn’t even be allowed near a gun will start coming into shops wanting Mk19's and M240B's mounted to their bass boats.

Re: Red Jacket Does it Agian!!

Met my neighbor's daughter's boyfriend the other day. Asked him what's he planning for a career and he replys, "either going to gunsmith school or motorcycle building school." Then proceeds to tell me about every episode of OOC and SOG's and how cool it would be to do that for a living. As we live near a large lake with many boats on it, I suggested marine mechanic, but apparantly that's not cool enough. Kids are being influenced by these shows, but not in a good way.

Re: Red Jacket Does it Agian!!

..still waiting for a suppressed shotgun from these assholes.

Paid in full up front 11 months ago. Have emails quoting a 9/30/11 finish. As of this week I was told it's unlikely it will be done by the end of APRIL. Thats 13 months...if I believe them at all. I was quoted 6.

And because they're assholes they refuse to refund my money. Their staff member told me this week "I found your gun parts in a box sitting in a corner."

They are obviously completely worthless. This is all first-hand experience, unfortunately. Not heresay. So yes, in case anyone is wondering, they are actually worse to deal with than it appears on TV (which is really, really bad).

Based on the show, I was under the impression they could turn around any project in under a week...

So, what your saying is the show is total bull shit? Say it aint so...

Here's the real reality on gunsmithing. I've been trying to get my 17 year old son to work in the shop with me for two years to learn the trade, but he says its too boring. So, recently he informs me he applied at Arby's... No shit. So, his hardest task would be asking someone if they want horsey suace or Arby's sauce and if they want to add a turnover to thier order...

Then I'm at Cabela's talking with my buddy, a retired SF E8 and we happen to overhear a customer come up to the gun counter and ask for an RJF piston AR, because that what's the Army is going to go with. I was going to just ignore it when the counter guy says "ya, thats what I herd too" Both, got an education on the current process which is underway with PM Soldier Weapons, my humble opinion of RJF, and not to belive everything thet see on TV.

Then to top it off, I see the preview of the next episode which has the daughter saying something to the effect that everyone is always trying to dethrone the king. Will Hayden...

Really... the king? I've been in the business for 30+ years and never heared of them prior to the show. They didnt have a booth at the SHOT Show this year, or any year in the past. I am told this year there were over 1600 exhibitors and 630,000 net square feet of show space full of real firearms manufaturers and Will Haden is "our King"? What kind of a sick twisted alternate reality do these RJF clowns live in?

Anyway, tell your daughters boyfriend I'm looking for shop help. He can come get all the cool he wants.

Since it is not done and you can't get your $$ back~ I would insist they don't put their logo on anything.
That will eliminate gun range ridicule ~ unless you tell them where you got it.

that seemed more about the guy than RJF.

and i dont think it speaks too highly they were too afraid to fire that 20mm. i would be PISSED if i paid 55k for it and then was told "oh by the way, you may or may not explode it"
