are the nitride bushings better than the regular ones,,I am ordering new dies for 6.5x47 Lapua and with the parts used to build this rifle I want the best ammo I can load,,I am ordering the Redding dies and a .287 and .288 bushing to start with,,regardless of price ,which bushings turns out better ammo??

thanx in advance,

You still have to lube the body just not the neck.. And if your using the bushing die.. Don't use the neck expander button. It will just be undoing what the bushing did.

I work in aluminum extrusion plant and our tool and die shop actually has 3 different Nitride heat treat ovens that run 24 hours a day 7 days a week,,I could take anything less than 22" in diameter in and have it nitrided,,

I never thought about it but would nitriding the regular RCBS dies help any that I already have for other calibers??

For straight walled pistol cases, yes. But for bottle necked rifle cases... I don't really know. We experimented with coating some dies with (?) TALiN 15 years ago. You can use less lube. But they still have to have SOME lube. Check with your engineer over that area and see what he says. I have never tried TiN in a die before.

The steel bushings work extremely well and are much less expensive. If you really feel the need to go with the TiN type and you're not sure exactly what diameter bushing will give you the neck tension you're after, buy several of the steel bushings in the size range you think might work. Determine the correct bushing for your purposes, then buy that specific bushing in TiN. You'll save some $$$ and you'll always have the steels ones as a backup if needed.
