I am trying to use my redding comp seater die for 260 for the first time. I am about .040 from bottoming out to seat 140 nosler cc to 2.900". 130 Vld bottomed out are still at 3.025" It seems the die has a bunch of adjustment but I cant use but a single turn of it.

I set the die up like the instructions say, screw down till it touches the shellholder and then unscrew till scale is facing you. I only unscrewed it a quarter turn so that is only .017 off shell holder.

Any idea?

+1,000. Redding Competition Seater dies are outstanding. Have fun with it.

Re: Redding comp seater die questions

The instructions that come with the Redding dies are not great, especially since they want you to first take the dies apart to remove the anti-rust coating on everyhting, lube lightly where approrpiate only, and then reassemble without an INTERNAL diagram provided!

However, you can get good diagrams for the dies, especialyl fro the Competition Deating Die, on the Redding website if you SEARCH using the Redding search feature there. Also, they have MUCH better instructions on the website now too.

I feel though that both the website and printed instructions are flawed in that they don't tell you how far to thread the internal threaded rod into the micrometer housing. That has a sigfiicant impact on adjustment range.

A little more explanation from Redding would go a lONG way.
