Hi all.. wanted to get some feedback on what folks are using in their semi-auto's for reloading ( equipment and not expendables). This is the last week for the copper creek group buy discount for the redding equipment and i am thinking of grabbing some quality dies.
At this time, these will be exclusively for my GAP10 and not a bolt gun, although i am seriously starting to think about a build here in a little while but most likely that is a ways off. I have read through the redding catalog and am coming up with a few options..
#1 i am new to rifle reloading.. i currently reload for my pistols.. primarily 45acp for my 1911's
#2 yes i have manuals and am reading religiously..
I would like to start venturing more into competition shooting and really enjoying my GAP10.. other than putting rounds down range at paper. I dont think i will go overboard on the granularity of uber precision reloading.. but am just interested in buying some nice quality dies that will get me my good quality loads and have fun shooting in competition as a way to better my skills. Of course i say that now.. but will most likely feed the addiction and challenge of precision reloading..
Looking at the national match 308 set.. which im sure is very nice.. Full length sizing, comp seater, and taper crimp..
Also looked at the small base dies.. anyone using these or feel they are necessary or of additional value to a semi shooter? Would use this in conjunction with the comp seater and some sort of crimp die
The type S bushing dies.. i hear lots of good things about them.. but i truly dont understand them or know what bushings to get..etc
I also know that I will need a little bit of crimp on my loads to finish them off.. do you all suggest that taper crimp die from redding or is their another way to precisely get the kind of crimp i need .. roll, Lee factory crimp..etc.. and yes i saw the topic on the Lee factory crimp.. lots of varying opinions on that..
Any help from folks with experience with the Redding sets would be greatly appreciated..
I also hear good things about the Forster dies as well.. and a few others to be honest.. so I am open to suggestions for my particular situation..
thanks
kc
Also just noticed someone had a similiar post as this one a few threads below and just read through that..but dont know if he is reloading for an autoloader or not..
seems a lot of folks are recommending the Type S dies.. i know they require a bushing.. how do i know which one to get and do i have to have their specific shell holder ?
