anyone out there with a scar 17 cqc sporting a Griffen RSTA? Looking for OAL and some first hand expeirence with noise. Is it close to hearing safe? Also looking for some pictures of this set up. Im having trouble finding any. Any negatives to a over the barrel can?

TIA everyone

I inquired with Griffin directly some years ago about that specific setup. Austin said the RSTA metered ~137db at the muzzle suppressed from a 16" .308 down from ~170db naked (33db attenuation) and claimed upper 120db at the ear. That's under 140db so I guess it's technically hearing safe, but your barrel is shorter and therefore louder and the mid-to-upper 130db range always sounded pretty loud to me.

Just make sure you have 1.93" behind the muzzle shoulder; I'm not sure how far back that gas block is on the 13" barrel.

I have one on the way to my LGS. It’s not going on anything as cool as a SCAR17 cqc though. Griffin is not making the RSTA anymore but there are 4 for sale on GunBroker right now. 3 buy it now from the same shop and and 1 that ends shortly with a relatively low starting bid. I’m not affiliated btw. Good luck.

Ive looked at these amtac reflex cans and think one would be a great option to maintain MV of a 16" barrel and keeps the oal at around 20" , siginigantly shorter than the RSTA just am unsure of the DBs at the ear being hearing safe

I have #0007 on a 20" SR25. It's a good can. Hearing safe in the open but out of a window with the close wall at the ejection port is nyet nyet. I'm yet to do actual accuracy testing but it hasn't seemed out of expectation during any of my plinking. I've considered letting it go and getting the 'correct' can for a 25/Mk11 but that's a whole different ball of wax.

Last time i was in Tennessee silencer he had one in stock. I thinking about getting it to go with my griffin spr. He is located in Seymour , Tn but has a website tennesseesilencer.com. He hasnt updated his site in a while and has a bunch more cans now so you might just want to give them a call.
